October 31 update: a new 54-hole personal best
On Saturday, Roussin-Bouchard shot 67 (−5) for 200 strokes (−16) through three rounds at the Maybank Championship. She shares second place with China's Yan Liu, two strokes behind defending champion Miyu Yamashita at 198 (−18). The LPGA confirms that 200 is her lowest 54-hole total on the tour, bettering her previous mark of 204 at the 2022 LPGA Drive On Championship.
Her opening 36-hole bogey-free run ended during Saturday's round, without changing the accuracy of the first-two-round account below. The LPGA recorded 9 of 14 fairways, 14 of 18 greens in regulation and 27 putts. In her post-round remarks, she said the heat and a more eventful scorecard tested her focus, but that she tries to bring her thoughts back to the present whenever they wander. She believes past difficult experiences in contention have prepared her for Sunday's challenge. A first LPGA victory remains a possibility, not an accomplished result.

Thirty-six holes without a bogey
Pauline Roussin-Bouchard reached the halfway point of the Maybank Championship in Kuala Lumpur on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 11-under 133, following Thursday's 64 with a second-round 69. She shared second place with Julia Lopez Ramirez, two strokes behind defending champion Miyu Yamashita. According to the LPGA, the Frenchwoman was the only player in the field without a bogey or worse through the opening 36 holes. The aggregate was also her lowest 36-hole score on the LPGA Tour.
Three birdies, but the par saves tell the story
Friday's card contained three birdies and fifteen pars. In her official post-round interview, however, Roussin-Bouchard focused on the putts that prevented dropped shots. She described difficult bunker situations, including plugged lies, and the need to recover when a promising approach did not turn into a birdie. The tour credited her with three sand saves from three opportunities during the round.
She was not particularly satisfied with the number of makeable birdie putts that stayed out. Instead of treating each miss as a crisis, she tried to remain committed to her process. That distinction explains how a player can shoot a useful 69 without an avalanche of birdies: protecting par can be just as important as creating chances.
Heat, training and recovery
Roussin-Bouchard said that she had kept running and strength work in her routine during the humid Malaysian week, but shortened her runs rather than attempt her usual longer distances. She reported drinking at least eight bottles of water, including electrolytes, and spending roughly an hour with her physiotherapist. These are descriptions of one athlete's personal routine, not medical or hydration advice for recreational golfers.
What is new in this interview
After Thursday's 64, she had discussed managing her thoughts and the heat. The October 30 interview adds concrete second-round detail: pressure par putts, bunker escapes, putting frustration and off-course recovery. She entered the event 79th in the Race to the CME Globe; only the leading 60 qualify for the season-ending championship, lending extra significance to the weekend.
