Colombia won the overall team championship at the 46th South American Senior Amateur Golf Championship (XLVI Campeonato Sudamericano de Golf Senior Amateur). The competition was staged from 19 to 24 October 2026 in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, and the South American Golf Federation (FESG) published its final report on 26 October. Colombia accumulated 86 competition points across ten separate team cups, finishing 18 points clear of host nation Bolivia.

Three cup victories underpin the title

The official overall table places Colombia first on 86 points, followed by Bolivia on 68 and Argentina on 66. Chile finished fourth (60), Peru fifth (57), with Brazil (38), Uruguay (35.5), Paraguay (32), Venezuela (25) and Ecuador (13.5) completing the ten-country classification. These figures are team competition points, not strokes played.

Colombia won Copa Argentina, Copa Colombia and Copa Paraguay. The delegation also finished runner-up in Copa Venezuela, Copa Brasil and Copa Uruguay. Its overall advantage came from consistently strong finishes across a wide range of divisions rather than from a single standout round or individual golfer.

The ten cups apply different age and handicap conditions. A score shown within an individual cup may be a stroke total or a handicap-adjusted competition result, depending on the event format. Neither should be confused with the 86 points in the combined country ranking.

Two courses and 205 competitors

The South American Golf Federation reported 205 golfers from all ten South American participating nations, including 24 representatives of Colombia. Competition took place at Urubó Country & Golf Club and Mapaizo Golf Club, both in the Santa Cruz area. The programme comprised three competitive rounds over 54 holes, with the aggregate ranking based on points accrued across the ten team cups.

Bolivia took the individual Copa Chile and Copa Venezuela titles and added three runner-up cup finishes, enough to claim second overall in front of its home spectators. Argentina won Copa Perú and Copa Brasil, but its overall total of 66 points left it two behind Bolivia.

The individual gross champion was Venezuelan

Colombia's team victory did not make a Colombian golfer the winner of the separate Mejor Gross individual award. In the gross stroke-play competition, Venezuela's Luis Soto claimed first place with 223 strokes, following rounds of 71, 75 and 77 (seven over par). Mariano Olcese of Argentina finished second on 230, while Brazil's Douglas Black was third on 233. These numbers are confirmed by the event's official scoring service.

A step up from 2025

At the 2025 championship in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil topped the overall team table with Colombia second. Colombia has now moved to first place in 2026. The title matters because this championship tests the breadth of a country's senior amateur golf programme: different age and handicap divisions contribute to a single national team total, unlike an individual professional tour title.

The headline result is therefore Colombia's 86-point team victory, supported by three cup wins and an 18-point margin over Bolivia. The tournament was played in Bolivia, while the victorious delegation represented Colombia.
