Río Cuarto Golf Club of Córdoba province are Argentina's men's interclub champions again. At the 118th Campeonato Argentino Interclubes de Caballeros, contested from 22 to 25 October 2026 at San Isidro Golf Club in the Buenos Aires area, the club finished with 11 points in the team standings. Country Club La Martona collected the same number, but Río Cuarto took the title on the competition's head-to-head tiebreak after defeating La Martona 10–0 on Saturday, 24 October.

A fourth crown, 14 years after the last

The victory is Río Cuarto's fourth top-division title, adding to championships won in 2010, 2011 and 2012. The result is confirmed by the governing Asociación Argentina de Golf (AAG) and the Federación de Golf de la Provincia de Córdoba (FGPC).

It is important to distinguish team standings points from scores in strokes: the 11-point total belongs to the interclub standings, while 10–0 was the score of a direct team contest, not a ten-stroke margin or a golf score relative to par. The event was a series of club-versus-club contests.

The path to the decisive tiebreak

Río Cuarto opened with a 5–5 draw against Olivos Golf Club before defeating Club Atlético Lomas 6–4. The following day brought an 8–2 win over Jockey Club de Tucumán and a 7–3 victory against Martindale Country Club.

The decisive Saturday produced a 10–0 defeat of La Martona, followed by a 6–4 win over fellow Córdoba side Córdoba Golf Club. Río Cuarto reached the final day alone at the top on 11 standings points, four clear of their nearest challengers.

Sunday was far less straightforward. Río Cuarto lost 4–6 to Alta Gracia Golf Club and 4–6 to Jockey Club de Rosario. La Martona won twice to draw level on 11 standings points. But the direct meeting between the tied teams was the prescribed tiebreak: Río Cuarto's Saturday 10–0 win kept the title in their hands.

The champions and the other divisions

The winning squad comprised Mateo Pulcini, Guillermo Estivill, Valentín Cerda, Clodomiro Carranza Jorba, Ignacio Ficco, Manuel Carranza and Sebastián Pichetto, captained by Leopoldo Álvarez.

Córdoba Golf Club finished third on 10 points. In the separate intermediate division, hosts San Isidro Golf Club won the title on 12 points, level with Jockey Club Argentino; both earned promotion to the top division. The women's Interclubes championship had its own standings and should not be conflated with the men's event.

Río Cuarto's victory illustrates a distinctive feature of interclub golf: a resounding win in one direct contest can ultimately decide a season-ending championship even if the team stumbles on the final day.
