1 November 2026 — Northern Ireland / Comporta, Portugal. Cameron Clark, who was born in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, recorded the best finish of his rookie Staysure Legends Tour season at the inaugural Portugal Legends Championship. A closing 65 (seven under par) at Pinheirinho Golf Course lifted him into a four-way tie for fifth on 205 strokes (11 under par). The tournament took place in Portugal, not in Northern Ireland; the Northern Irish connection is Clark's background and sporting representation.

Seven birdies, no bogeys

After rounds of 68 and 72, Clark stood at 140 (four under) and shared 18th place entering Sunday. His final-round surge included five birdies across holes three to eight, followed by consecutive birdies at the 11th and 12th. He then played the final six holes in six pars. With no bogeys on the card, seven birdies and 11 pars added up to a seven-under-par 65 on the par-72 layout.

His three-round arithmetic is 68 + 72 + 65 = 205, which is 11 under. He climbed from tied 18th to tied fifth; it was not an outright fifth place or a tournament win. According to Irish Golfer, this was the first top-five result of his rookie Legends Tour campaign.

A tie for fifth, not a podium finish

Clark shared fifth at 11 under with Robert Coles, Keith Horne and 1999 Open champion Paul Lawrie. South African Jean Hugo won in 196 (20 under) after shooting a course-record 62 on Sunday. Greg Owen was runner-up at 14 under, Johan Edfors took third at 13 under, and Andrew Marshall fourth at 12 under. Clark's closing 65 was the day's second-lowest round after Hugo's 62, yet he finished nine strokes behind the champion overall.

Why Ballymena matters

Clark has long served as head professional at Moor Hall Golf Club in Sutton Coldfield, England, but his roots are firmly Northern Irish. He was born in Ballymena, County Antrim, while his father was a golf professional at Ballymena Golf Club, and he competes under the Northern Irish flag. After qualifying for the Legends Tour in 2026, he returned in September to play a professional event in his hometown for the first time. His Portugal performance represents a fresh individual milestone on the senior professional circuit, rather than a new domestic tournament result.

Verification: Irish Golfer reported Clark's scoring sequence and first top five on 1 November; Golf Today's final leaderboard confirms the rounds, aggregate and tie; the Staysure Legends Tour confirms the venue, dates and champion. Clark's Ballymena ties are corroborated by the tour's player profile and a previous Irish Golfer interview. The event ran 30 October–1 November in Portugal.
