Four established players secure 2027 KLPGA Tour eligibility
On 2 November 2026, the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) confirmed that its KLPGT board had awarded 2027 regular-tour playing rights to Kim Bo-kyung, Ahn Song-yi, Jang Ha-na and Park Gyeol. The announcement followed the sixth KLPGT board meeting of 2026. It concerns eligibility for next season, not the result of a tournament or a ranking change following the latest event.
The decision uses a discretionary route intended to help players who have contributed to Korea's professional women's game over many years remain active on the regular tour. It is a distinct pathway alongside the normal sporting qualification system.
Selection criteria: achievements, longevity and contribution
Eligible candidates must be members of the K-10 Club, which recognises sustained regular-tour careers, or have earned at least 2.5 billion South Korean won in cumulative KLPGA career prize money. Satisfying one of these thresholds does not automatically confer playing rights. The board considers competitive results, contributions to the association and public recognition, and may select no more than four players.
The distinction from Q-School matters: these four players did not win their 2027 cards by finishing in a particular position at a single qualifying event. Nor should a tour card be interpreted as a promise of entry into every tournament; individual events retain their own eligibility requirements.
The four players and their records
Kim Bo-kyung, 40, belongs to the inaugural group of K-10 Club members. She recorded four regular-tour victories through 2018. In 2026 she won three KLPGA Champions Tour events and led that circuit in number of victories, evidence that she remains competitive in a different professional setting.
Ahn Song-yi, 36, representing KB Financial Group, became the first player in KLPGA Tour history to reach 400 appearances. Her career illustrates an aspect of professional success that is not captured by a win count alone: the ability to compete through numerous seasons.
Jang Ha-na, 34, has 15 KLPGA regular-tour victories and approximately 5.77 billion won in career prize money. She was also the first player in KLPGA history to cross the 5 billion-won career earnings mark. Those figures make her the most decorated winner in this particular group.
Park Gyeol, 30, of Doosan We've, retained regular-tour status for 12 years and was selected as a KLPGA promotional model eight times. Her inclusion reflects both her long playing record and her public role in the tour.
Why the decision matters
The KLPGA is balancing two legitimate objectives: keeping standard competitive qualification in place while preventing the professional game from losing experienced, recognisable players too abruptly. The programme acknowledges a career's wider value without suggesting that past achievements guarantee future scores.
KLPGA chairman Kim Sang-yeol framed the decision as support for athletes whose efforts helped develop Korean women's professional golf. Whether these four veterans can turn their renewed opportunity into strong 2027 results remains an open sporting question.
