A new championship layout is nearing its first member rounds at Maverick Golf & Ranch Club, a private community in Fort Worth, Texas. Designed by Tom Fazio and Fazio Design, the 18-hole course can play more than 8,000 yards from its furthest tees. Golf Course Architecture reported the completed course on 16 October 2026, while an on-site PaperCity report published 20 October said the club's roughly 140 members are due to begin playing in early November. A finished golf course and public access are two very different things in this case.
A ranch landscape shaped into a course
Maverick occupies approximately 1,100 acres of the historic Veale Ranch property. Rather than tracing a flat, repetitive routing, Fazio's team worked with valleys, changes in elevation and long views across the Texas countryside. One particularly deliberate architectural moment is the opening hole's outlook toward the downtown Fort Worth skyline.
Wide playing corridors create a sense of scale, while smaller, strongly contoured greens, penal bunkers and varying approach angles provide the strategic demands. The course's maximum yardage is exceptionally long, but its design also aims to offer different routes and tee options rather than insisting that every player tackle the back tees.
Turf and maintenance strategy
Published specifications identify 007 bentgrass greens, Stadium Zoysia fairways and Zeon Zoysia rough. The greens are served by a SubAir system to help manage conditions below the putting surfaces. More than 3,000 trees have been planted, with native grasses used to frame the layout. These are verified design and maintenance features; no independently verified percentage reduction in water use or other environmental outcome has been announced in the cited reports.
Three golf experiences—but membership matters
Maverick already has Pinkerton, a nine-hole par-3 course that opened in November 2025. A 12-hole executive course is planned as the next phase, completing the resort's three distinct Fazio-designed golf experiences. Other planned components include a clubhouse, wellness amenities and on-course comfort stations.
Can visiting golfers book? Not as an ordinary public daily-fee course: this is a private residential golf club. The expected November debut concerns its members, not a general tee-time launch. Confirmed address: 10214 Rolling Hills Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76126, USA. The club's official website confirms its golf plans, PaperCity reported the member-play schedule on 20 October, and Golf Course Architecture detailed the layout on 16 October.
