Filippo Celli ended the DP World Tour regular season with a performance that underlined his progress as a professional. On 25 October 2026, the Italian tied for fourth at the Genesis Championship in Cheonan, South Korea, posting 274 strokes, ten under par. It was an encouraging finish to the year, although even a top-four result could not take him into the Tour’s season-ending Play-Offs.
At Woo Jeong Hills Country Club, Celli returned rounds of 69, 66, 71 and 68. His second-round 66 propelled him towards the top of the board, and a closing 68 earned him a share of fourth alongside Ryan Fox, Jorge Campillo, Antoine Rozner, Casey Jarvis, and South Korean players Sanghun Shin and Si Woo Kim. Both the DP World Tour and the Italian Golf Federation confirmed the final standings.
Japan’s Yuto Katsuragawa won on 13 under, 271, with French players Frederic Lacroix and Martin Couvra sharing second on 11 under, 273. Celli finished one stroke outside the runner-up positions and three behind the champion. But the week carried another consequence: it was the final regular-season event, with the Race to Dubai standings determining playing privileges for 2027 and places in the November Play-Offs.
The distinction matters. Celli finished 78th in the Race to Dubai, safely inside the top 100 who retained their DP World Tour cards for 2027. However, only the leading 70 qualified for the first Play-Off event, the Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship on 5–8 November. Celli did not make that field. A strong final round therefore secured a positive end to his campaign without extending it into November.
The Korea result was not an isolated highlight. In August, Celli recorded a runner-up finish at the Danish Golf Championship. In September, he tied for sixth at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth. Those performances, followed by another top-five finish in Korea, show his ability to contend against strong international fields even if week-to-week consistency remains the next challenge.
There is also a longer arc to the story. Celli became widely known in 2022 when he collected the Silver Medal as the leading amateur at The Open in St Andrews. Four years later, the immediate achievement is less glamorous but highly consequential: he has retained a full place on Europe's premier professional tour for 2027.
The takeaway is therefore two-sided. Celli's fourth place at Genesis was an excellent result, and his season has produced genuine highlights. Yet it did not change the Play-Off cut: 78th meant a card for next year, not another start in Abu Dhabi.
