Golf Monthly published an independent hands-on test of the Blue Tees Rainmaker on 28 October 2026. This is not a newly launched product: the portable Doppler-radar monitor was introduced back in February 2026. The new finding concerns real-world short-shot performance.
Hardware and measurements
Rainmaker includes a 4.3-inch screen, adjustable stand, magnetic remote and IPX4 splash protection. Blue Tees quotes up to seven hours of battery life. Thirteen parameters are available on the unit; further calculated values appear in LAUNCH. The claim of 20-plus metrics does not mean every value is measured directly by radar in the same way.
Practice, Target Distance and Swing Speed modes operate without repeated phone checks, with up to 1,000 offline shots stored. Compatible home-simulator options include E6 Connect and GSPro. Training distances can inform Blue Tees Captain rangefinders and Player Pro GPS speakers, but connectivity is not proof of accuracy.
What the tester observed
Conor Keenan evaluated Rainmaker at Royal County Down practice facilities and indoors. Some pitching-wedge shots had calculated carry up to 10 yards longer than the observed distance. These were occasional outliers, not a constant error. His mid-iron and driver readings were more consistent.
Outdoor trials used Callaway range balls; indoor sessions with Titleist Pro V1 balls produced tighter readings. This is not a universal ten-yard error margin. Ball type, setup and software calculations matter, and the article does not provide a controlled, shot-by-shot comparison with a reference-grade instrument.
Why it matters
Overstated wedge carry can distort club-distance gapping and partial-swing targets. Golfers should compare repeated shot groups against actual landing distances rather than trusting an isolated number. For swing-speed practice and session records, portability may be more valuable.
Golf Monthly praised the integrated screen but noted a weight of roughly 719 g excluding the case. According to the review, full app access costs $79 per year after the first free year. That is a long-term software condition, not a retail offer.
Editorial assessment: this test neither dismisses Rainmaker outright nor independently validates every advertised accuracy claim. Specifications were checked against Blue Tees' official material.
