Ansan hosts the closing event of the junior season
The JGS Korean Championship (Road to Asian Junior Masters) is scheduled for 3–5 November 2026 at The Heaven Resort in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. The official Junior Golf Series Korea event listing gives the venue address as 466 Daeseon-ro, Danwon-gu, Ansan-si, and identifies the competition with the WAGR JGS designation.
This is a preview, not a report of results. As of 30 October, the tournament has not begun. Its final entry list, round-by-round scores and champions should not be assumed from the published schedule. The organiser's own event page is the primary source for any subsequent updates.
A 54-hole test across five age classes
The 2026 JGS Korea Main Series rules specify three-day tournaments comprising 54 holes of gross stroke play. Entry is open to registered boys and girls who are under 21. Five birth-date-based divisions, Classes A, B, C, D and E, allow juniors to compete against players of similar age, with an option to enter an older class.
The season's published calendar also shows earlier stops at The Heaven Resort, Seongmunan Country Club and Oak Valley Country Club. The most recent listed Main Series event before the championship was held at Oak Valley on 13–15 October. The November competition brings that domestic pathway back to Ansan.
Why the Asian Junior Masters route matters
Junior golfers are not competing solely for trophies. The series maintains an Order of Merit (OOM) points ranking that links local performances to international opportunities. The organiser's awards rules describe a season-final championship in which division winners receive invitations to the Asian Junior Masters; its November schedule explicitly labels this stage Road to Asian Junior Masters, with AJM 2027 listed among the pathways.
For the season-long OOM awards, the top-ranked boy and girl in each of Classes A and B can receive full support for the Asian Junior Masters entry fee. Those finishing second in these divisions receive 50% entry-fee support. In Classes C, D and E, leading OOM players are offered eligibility to participate. To qualify for OOM awards, a junior must have played at least three JGS Korea events during the season. These are published eligibility terms, not an announcement that any named player has already been awarded a place.
A development stage beyond the professional headlines
The Korean golf calendar is often dominated by the KLPGA and KPGA professional tours. This event instead highlights the amateur and junior ladder: players gain competitive experience through stroke-play rounds and can progress toward international junior golf through transparent ranking and award criteria.
The tournament is due to conclude on 5 November. Confirmed entrants and results should be checked with the organiser once competition is under way.
