Two victories, two different tours

Yuto Katsuragawa won the 2026 Vantelin Tokai Classic on 1 November, finishing four rounds at Miyoshi Country Club's West Course in Aichi Prefecture at 272 strokes (12 under par). He closed with a four-under 67, beating Hiroki Tanaka by one stroke; Tanaka finished on 273 (11 under), with Suguru Shimoke third on 277 (seven under). The Japan Golf Tour Organization's final leaderboard confirms that all four rounds are complete.

The win came only a week after Katsuragawa's victory at the Genesis Championship on 25 October in South Korea. There, he scored 271 (13 under) to claim his second DP World Tour title. His subsequent win in Japan makes it two titles in successive weeks, but across different tours; the two victories should not be counted as consecutive wins within either tour's individual season statistics.

An 18th-hole finish worth remembering

Starting the final round two strokes off the lead, Katsuragawa gained momentum over the front nine before a double bogey at the par-three 16th brought him back level with Tanaka. His approach from difficult rough proved costly. He then found a bunker with his tee shot at 17 but rescued par with a putt from around three metres. Both golfers remained tied heading into the last hole, where Katsuragawa converted a long birdie putt at the 18th to win by one. His closing 67 is a verified round score; it should not be interpreted as evidence of four birdies without checking the hole-by-hole card.

The wider significance

Just days earlier, Katsuragawa had arrived at the Genesis Championship ranked 106th in the Race to Dubai, outside the top 100 who would retain status for 2027. Winning in Korea took him well inside the top 30 and secured his place in the DP World Tour Play-Offs. His victory at a home-area tournament in Aichi added a different dimension: a national tour title in front of the community that helped shape his career.

He now heads toward Abu Dhabi and Dubai with momentum, though the rankings must be kept distinct. Japan Golf Tour results and Race to Dubai points are calculated under separate systems; winning at Miyoshi does not itself add the equivalent of another DP World Tour victory to the European standings.
