A one-shot victory at home in Saitama
Shuri Sakuma (佐久間朱莉) won the 2026 Higuchi Hisako Mitsubishi Electric Ladies Golf Tournament, the 33rd event on the Japan Ladies Professional Golfers' Association (JLPGA) schedule. The final round took place on 1 November at Musashigaoka Golf Course in Hanno, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. Sakuma finished the 54-hole event on 201 strokes, 15 under par, winning by one shot.
Played from 30 October to 1 November on a 6,690-yard, par-72 layout, the event gave Saitama native Sakuma her first JLPGA victory in her home prefecture. It was her fourth win of the 2026 season and eighth JLPGA title overall. The winner's cheque was ¥18 million from a total purse of ¥100 million.
The last-hole contest
Sakuma began the final round tied at 11 under with Sakura Koiwai and Akira Yamaji. Her Sunday 68 contained four birdies and no bogeys. Across the three rounds, her scores were 68, 65 and 68, adding up to 201 strokes.
The decisive exchange occurred on the par-5 18th. Koiwai made a birdie to catch Sakuma at 14 under, but Sakuma answered with a birdie of her own, closing at 15 under to secure the title. Koiwai finished second on 202 (−14) and Yuna Araki took third on 203 (−13). The margin was a single stroke, not a playoff.
A JLPGA record: 114 straight holes without a bogey
Sakuma's victory also set an all-time JLPGA mark of 114 consecutive bogey-free holes, surpassing Miyu Yamashita's previous record of 113 by one hole. This is a sequence of holes played without making bogey or worse; it does not mean Sakuma recorded 114 birdies.
The scope of the streak matters. Sakuma played all 54 holes of this week's three-round tournament without a bogey, while the larger 114-hole sequence began during the previous Masters GC Ladies event. It therefore spans two tournaments, rather than representing 114 holes played at Musashigaoka.
The Japanese season's wider picture
The result also affects the JLPGA Mercedes Ranking. Following her win, second-ranked Sakuma had closed the gap to leader Shiho Kuwaki to 878.63 points, with four events remaining in the season. Her performance combined a strong winning score with unprecedented consistency, and the Saitama home victory adds a local dimension to the achievement.
