Tim Petrovic finished the Stifel Charity Classic on October 25, 2026, tied for eighth at Norwood Hills Country Club in St. Louis. His 54-hole total was 205 (8 under par). More importantly for his season, that performance moved him from 60th to 53rd on the Charles Schwab Cup list. Only the top 54 after this event could advance to the next PGA TOUR Champions playoff tournament.

A three-round rescue

Petrovic began with 66 (5 under) on the par-71 course, followed by 71 (even par) and a closing 68 (3 under). The rounds added up to 205, good for a share of eighth alongside players including Vaughn Taylor and Scott Parel. It was not a title-winning week — Rory Sabbatini secured the trophy with 199 (14 under) — but it was precisely the kind of result that matters on the playoff bubble.

The standings battle behind the trophy

The Stifel Charity Classic opened the three-event Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs. The eligible group of 72 would be cut to 54 after St. Louis, then to 36 after the following tournament. Petrovic entered the week in 60th place, outside the advancing positions, so finishing respectably without gaining places would not have been enough. His final standing of 53rd lifted him seven positions and left him just one place clear of the cutoff.

The margins were punishing elsewhere. Chad Campbell missed the top 54 by only $402 in the points calculation cited by the tour after late bogeys; Henrik Stenson, by contrast, advanced with a tie for third. Petrovic's experience illustrates a different kind of late-season success: remaining in contention for the season trophy without coming close to winning the tournament itself.

One more cut to survive

Next comes the Simmons Bank Championship, October 30–November 1, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Only the top 36 after that event reach the Charles Schwab Cup Championship in Phoenix, November 12–15. For Petrovic, his eighth-place finish in St. Louis bought another competitive week, not an automatic berth in the season finale.

Verification: The PGA TOUR Champions official leaderboard shows Petrovic's rounds of 66, 71 and 68, T8 at 205 (−8), and movement from 60th to 53rd. The tour's playoff overview confirms the field reductions and dates.
