Two temporary holes bring the interim layout to twelve

Moore Park Golf, the public course in Sydney, Australia, has scheduled a change to an interim 12-hole layout from Monday, 2 November 2026. In its official update dated 22 October, the venue said two temporary holes would be added to the ten playable since July. This is the announced schedule, not independent confirmation that all twelve holes have already entered service.

The change is part of the New South Wales Government’s Moore Park South project, which will turn 20 hectares of former golf-course land into public parkland while providing a redesigned 12-hole public course. The temporary arrangement due on 2 November is not the completed design.

How the course reached this point

Moore Park offered its previous 18-hole course until 30 June 2026. From 1 July, play was restricted to the first ten holes while work continued elsewhere on the property. Adding two temporary holes restores some capacity during construction, but the club warns that its routing and the number of playable holes will continue to change.

According to Moore Park Golf, at least nine holes will remain available throughout the project. Golfers should therefore check the current layout and tee-time availability when booking rather than assume they can always play the same twelve holes.

The driving range and clubhouse remain open as usual, according to the operator. The wider park and golf redevelopment is planned for completion in 2028. That is a project target, not an announcement that the permanent course has opened.

Public access and the final plan

An earlier proposal would have retained nine holes. Following consultation, the final plan increased the public course to twelve. The future facilities also include an expanded driving range with up to 90 bays, an 18-hole mini-golf course, and putting and chipping greens. These are proposed elements of the completed site, not facilities confirmed as finished for 2 November.

For local golfers, the practical distinction is important: Moore Park remains a public-access course, but the former 18-hole circuit is no longer operating. The exact routing, opening status and tee times should be checked directly with the venue.
