On 29 October 2026, Qiddiya Investment Company confirmed that The National Golf Club, a new course within Qiddiya City approximately 45 kilometres from Riyadh, is scheduled to open to the public on Friday, 30 October. The venue will not require club membership. That access policy is intended to accommodate first-time golfers, amateurs, experienced players, families and visitors alike.

Eighteen holes, with shorter options

Six-time major champion Sir Nick Faldo designed the 18-hole championship course. The layout is arranged as three six-hole loops, giving golfers the option of a shorter visit instead of committing to a full 18-hole round. These are alternative loop lengths within one course, not separate courses or a reference to strokes.

The fairways sit against the dramatic Tuwaiq escarpment, with cliffs reaching roughly 200 metres above the surrounding area. The project brings green playing surfaces into a rugged, arid setting while aiming to offer routes for beginners and stronger players. Qiddiya City had already announced a partnership with the Faldo Series, a junior-development competition pathway, before the opening date was confirmed.

Five-year Golf Saudi operating agreement

Golf Saudi has been appointed operator under a five-year management contract. Its remit includes course and facilities management, tournaments and events, and player-development programmes. The importance goes beyond a new playing destination: it may also add a venue to Saudi Arabia's developing grassroots and competitive golf network.

A temporary clubhouse will welcome guests when the course opens on 30 October, alongside initial practice opportunities. A permanent clubhouse, academy and further training facilities are planned for 2028. Those future amenities should not be mistaken for facilities already in operation on opening day.

Sustainability and local participation

The developers describe an irrigation system using recycled water, smart water controls, electric golf carts and a partly electric maintenance fleet. The course has been awarded GEO Certified Development status, relating to sustainability during the development phase. This certification does not, by itself, establish what actual post-opening water consumption will be.

Located near the National Tennis Centre currently under development, the club forms part of Qiddiya's wider sports precinct. Its plans for teaching and involvement with the Faldo Series are presented as ways to give Saudi juniors and newcomers greater access to golf.

The practical distinction

The confirmed news is an announced opening on 30 October 2026, not a completed event as of this 29 October report. Specific tee times, green fees and booking arrangements were not provided in the material reviewed and should be checked with the club before visiting.
