Newgiza Open puts Cairo's domestic golf calendar in focus
The 2026 Newgiza Open is scheduled for October 30–31, according to the Egyptian Golf Federation (EGF). The host venue is Newgiza Golf Club, in 6th of October City, Giza Governorate, west of Cairo. As of the evening of October 29, this is a preview of a forthcoming event, not a report of completed rounds.
The federation's official calendar confirms the tournament name, the two dates and the venue. Its publicly available listing does not provide a complete entry list, category breakdown, detailed competition regulations, prize information or scores. No winner, number of rounds played, scoring format or leading contender can responsibly be reported on that basis.
A course shaped by its surroundings
Newgiza Golf Club has 18 holes and was designed by Thomson, Perrett & Lobb. The club's operator, NEWGIZA, describes a design that works with the natural terrain and offers multiple teeing areas, allowing golfers of different abilities to choose an appropriate level of challenge. The development also describes a 4 km walking path around the course.
The setting west of Cairo is known for its rocky and desert-influenced landscape, with changes in elevation forming part of the golfing experience. These are established characteristics of the venue, not a claim about the specific tees, pin positions or course set-up that will be used at the 2026 Newgiza Open. The organisers have not publicly confirmed those tournament details.
How the event fits into the Egyptian season
The EGF calendar places the Alex Open at Alexandria Sporting Club on October 23–24, followed by U.S. Kids 2 at Dreamland Golf Club on October 24. Newgiza Open follows on October 30–31. Looking ahead, the same venue is scheduled to host EGF League Round 2 on November 14. Those are separate competitions with separate results.
Egypt also has a professional schedule to distinguish from these domestic fixtures. Arab News reported on October 9 that the 2026–27 MENA Golf Tour would begin with three Cairo events from November 28 to December 10, using the Madinaty and New Giza courses. That is a separate tour; there is no verified basis for describing the October Newgiza Open as a MENA Tour stop.
What to watch when play starts
Official entry and results documents will be needed to establish the field, divisions, first-round scores and eventual winners. Until those records appear, the EGF calendar is the reliable source for the event's confirmed timing and location. GOLFTWITT will not assign invented scores or favourites.
