A late withdrawal reshapes the KLPGA season finale. Seo Gyo-rim, a four-time winner on the Korean women's tour in 2026, will not contest the S-OIL Championship at Elysian Jeju. Sports Donga reported the withdrawal on 27 October after speaking to a representative of Seo's management agency, Crowning. The explanation was a recurrence of pain around the ribs. Her team described the decision as precautionary, intended to avoid a more serious setback. This is a publicly reported management statement, not an independently established medical diagnosis.
The run-up to the decision. Seo missed the cut at the HJ Heavy Industries & Dongbu Construction Championship, then carded a first-round 79 (+7) at the Iceberg Golf–Seoul Shinmun Open before withdrawing in discomfort. At the LPGA's BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea, she was 15 over through three rounds and did not start the final round. Her management said she had felt better before the BMW event but experienced rib-area pain again once competition began. It hopes she can prepare for the final KLPGA event of the year, although that is not a confirmed return.
The prize-money equation. Kim Min-sol sits top of the KLPGA season earnings standings on ₩1,590,079,428. Seo is second with ₩1,413,216,000: a difference of ₩176,863,428. First prize at S-OIL is ₩180 million. A Kim victory, while Seo earns nothing at Jeju, would increase that advantage to ₩356,863,428. As Sports Donga notes, that would exceed what Seo could collect at the last event and secure Kim the season money title early. It is a conditional scenario, not a title already won.
Three competitions, different leaders. The separate Daesang Player of the Year points standings currently favour Seo by 563 to 525 — a 38-point margin. An S-OIL title would add 70 points to Kim's total, moving her to 595 and giving her a 32-point lead before the final event; the award would still have to be decided. Seo also leads the season stroke-average category, 70.6405 to 70.7895. She has four victories against Kim's three, so a win in Jeju would draw them level on wins.
The event itself. The 20th S-OIL Championship runs from 29 October to 1 November 2026 at Elysian Jeju, with the Lake and Pine nines forming a par-72, 72-hole stroke-play challenge. The total purse is ₩1 billion. Go Ji-won is the defending champion according to the tour calendar; that designation alone does not verify any player's entry this year. The Daebo House D Championship on 6–8 November is the remaining season-ending event. S-OIL has not started: its future leaderboard cannot yet supply first-round scores or a tournament leader.
What changes next. Kim's opportunity is genuine, but neither the winner nor the remaining season awards can be declared in advance. Watch the Jeju leaderboard once play begins, the Daesang points allocation, and whether Seo can return for the final week. An earlier preview of this rivalry focused on the narrow money gap; her withdrawal is the significant new fact that changes the calculation.
