Go Ji-won is S-OIL Championship's defending champion as KLPGA heads to Jeju on 29 October

The KLPGA lists Go Ji-won as the defending S-OIL Championship winner ahead of the 29 October–1 November event at Elysian Jeju. Having claimed her third career KLPGA title in April, she is a key name in the event preview, although her final entry has not been independently verified.

The S-OIL Championship returns to Jeju

The Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) lists Go Ji-won (고지원) as the defending champion of the S-OIL Championship. Its 20th edition is scheduled for 29 October to 1 November 2026 at Elysian Jeju, using the Lake and Pine nines. The advertised purse is KRW 1 billion. As of 26 October, the event has not started and no 2026 results can be reported.

Why Go Ji-won matters

Go won the S-OIL Championship in 2025, which explains the defending-champion designation on the KLPGA's official calendar. It was one of two KLPGA victories for her that season, alongside the Jeju Samdasoo Masters. She added a third career title at The Siena Open in early April 2026. The upcoming event therefore offers a meaningful reminder of how quickly her career has developed from contender to multiple winner on the Korean circuit.

What is verified—and what is not

The KLPGA schedule confirms the event's name, dates, venue, course nines and prize fund, plus Go's status as last year's winner. Crucially, a defending-champion label is not itself confirmation of an entry. Until the event's current starting list is verified, her participation on 29 October must not be presented as certain, and no claims about her present form or strategy at Elysian Jeju should be treated as established facts.

The week also falls at a consequential point in the KLPGA money race. The latest published rankings show Kim Min-sol leading with KRW 1,590,079,428 and Seo Gyo-rim second on KRW 1,413,216,000. Their KRW 176,863,428 gap is comparable to the champion's share of a KRW 1 billion event, adding stakes beyond the defending winner's storyline.

Course numbers and a benchmark from 2025

The official 2026 setup is 6,924 yards, par 72, over 72 holes on the Lake–Pine combination. The winner's share of the KRW 1 billion purse is KRW 180 million. In 2025 Go Ji-won captured this event on 17-under 271, two shots clear of Seo Gyo-rim. That is last year's confirmed outcome, not a prediction for this week.

What comes next

The opening round is scheduled for 29 October and the conclusion for 1 November. Once the official entry list and tee times are available, attention will turn to whether Go can challenge for a fourth KLPGA career victory. No result can be claimed before competition takes place.
