Two titles, two routes to victory in Lima

The 2026 Abierto de Primavera concluded at Los Inkas Golf Club in Lima, Peru, on 25 October 2026, after a week of competition spanning 19–25 October. The Peruvian Golf Federation (Federación Peruana de Golf) confirmed Patrick Sparks of Country Club de Villa as the men's open champion and Idana Candusso of Country Club La Planicie as the women's winner.

Their victories unfolded differently. Sparks improved in each of his three rounds and sealed the men's title with his strongest closing score. Candusso stayed ahead in the women's competition throughout all three rounds. The federation published its official report on 25 October, with tournament results also available through its Plus+Golf scoring platform.

Sparks closes with 69 for a four-stroke victory

Sparks returned rounds of 74, 71 and 69, adding up to 214 strokes (two under par overall). His 69 on the final day was his lowest round of the event. He finished four strokes clear of the two nearest contenders.

Alejandro del Valle, another Country Club de Villa golfer, took second in the federation's classification with rounds of 75, 73 and 70 for 218 strokes (two over par). Andrés Cáceres of host club Los Inkas also totalled 218 (+2), after 72, 71 and 75, and was listed third. Their gross totals were level; the official report does not explain the classification tiebreak procedure, so no such rule is assumed here.

The win adds to a promising season for Sparks, who previously finished runner-up at the Abierto VISA and has been selected for Peru's Copa Los Andes team for the November event at Lima Golf Club. The federation also reports that he is due to compete at the next Latin America Amateur Championship in Mexico. These are future appearances, not completed results.

Candusso leads from start to finish

Idana Candusso recorded 77, 79 and 78 strokes, totalling 234 (+18) to win the women's open division. She led through all three rounds and successfully defended the Abierto de Primavera title she won in 2025. Earlier this season, she also claimed the women's open title at Peru's national stroke-play championship at Lima Golf Club.

Macarena Díaz, from the San Bartolo junior golf programme, finished second on 248 (+32) after rounds of 85, 84 and 79. Rafaella Benavides of Los Inkas Golf Club took third with 253 (+37). Candusso's winning margin over Díaz was 14 strokes.

Handicap, women's and senior golf matter too

The tournament's other divisions used handicaps and Stableford scoring, for which results are expressed in points rather than aggregate strokes. In women's handicap Division B, Monica Jeoung of Granja Azul Country Club Golf won the net classification with 67 points, one ahead of Eunsun Oh. In the men's senior division, Jaime Yzaga led the gross Stableford classification with 60 points, while Pablo Tapia won net with 75 points. These points figures must not be compared directly with the 214- and 234-stroke open results.

Together, the open, handicap, women's and senior categories show the breadth of domestic amateur golf in Peru. Los Inkas hosted club players, women, graduates of junior programmes and senior golfers across separate formats. The federation highlighted the tournament's relevance to the national rankings and the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
