Two days before the Maybank Championship begins, the LPGA has published its detailed field breakdown. From October 29 to November 1, 2026, the West Course at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club is scheduled to host 10 players ranked inside the world's top 25 and 11 of the 17 individual winners on the LPGA Tour this season. The fourth edition of the event carries a $3 million purse. The numbers provide a more useful measure of the field's strength than a simple list of star names.

The top-25 contingent includes Haeran Ryu (world No. 3), Miyu Yamashita (No. 4), Ruoning Yin (No. 5), Lottie Woad (No. 7) and Charley Hull (No. 8). Lydia Ko (No. 14), Aki Iwai (No. 18), Hye-Jin Choi (No. 23), Esther Henseleit (No. 24) and A Lim Kim (No. 25) complete the ten. These are the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings positions given in the LPGA's October 27 field preview; they should not be confused with the separate Race to the CME Globe season standings.

There will also be a meeting of all three former Maybank champions. Defending champion Miyu Yamashita won the 2025 edition at 18 under par, 270 strokes over 72 holes, before taking a three-player playoff against Hye-Jin Choi and Hannah Green. Ruoning Yin won in 2024 and Celine Boutier claimed the inaugural title in 2023. Choi and Green are entered again, offering the possibility of another compelling contest between the players who decided last year's title. That is a storyline, not a prediction of another playoff.

The quality extends well beyond the previous champions. According to the LPGA, the field includes 11 of the 17 different players who have won on Tour in 2026. They include Haeran Ryu, who captured two majors this season — The Amundi Evian Championship and the KPMG Women's PGA Championship — as well as Ruoning Yin, Miyu Yamashita and Yuri Yoshida. Yoshida arrives following her first LPGA Tour victory at the BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea on October 25. The 11-of-17 statistic counts individual winners, not the number of tournaments those players have won.

The sponsor-invitation contingent adds a home-country dimension. Among ten exemptions, the LPGA highlights Natasha Oon, Mirabel Ting, Genevieve Ling and Kelly Tan, along with emerging regional players. Their presence matters for Malaysian golf, but an invitation is not an indication of a guaranteed finish: they will compete in the same tournament against established LPGA winners.

The West Course is listed as a par-72 layout measuring 6,536 yards. The 332-yard, par-4 16th is a notable risk-reward test, with water left and bunkers to the right of the fairway. Depending on the tee setup, players may be able to attack the green area from the tee or lay up for a wedge approach. Those decisions could matter late in the tournament, although their actual impact cannot be assessed before competition begins.

As of October 27, the 2026 championship has not started and the official leaderboard contains no completed-round scores. There is therefore no current leader to report. The event offers 500 Race to the CME Globe points to the winner; those season points are distinct from prize money. The opening round is scheduled for October 29, and entries remain subject to change before the start.
