From watching professional team golf to playing its holes

On 2 November 2026, Topgolf and TMRW Sports announced a multiyear partnership designed to connect the team golf leagues TGL and WTGL with people visiting Topgolf venues and Toptracer Range facilities. The headline offering is the chance to play digital versions of competition holes used by the leagues, complemented by match-watch gatherings at selected locations.

This is more than another branded promotion: it attempts to close the gap between watching a technology-driven professional competition and actually trying its playing challenges. A visitor will not be competing in an official TGL or WTGL match or playing on the physical SoFi Center layout. The partners are referring to playable versions of specially designed league holes within Topgolf and Toptracer environments.

WTGL is the first test

The inaugural WTGL season, organised by TMRW Sports in partnership with the LPGA, is scheduled to begin on 8 November 2026, with five teams. The men's TGL, built in collaboration with the PGA TOUR, features professional team match play at the purpose-built SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Both products combine live strokes, technology and a compact team format.

The initial public activation, the Topgolf WTGL Challenge, is scheduled for 8 November through 23 December. Participants can complete holes associated with the new women's league. The partners say three qualifying participants will be randomly selected to receive gift cards worth $500 each for official league merchandise. The drawing is not a lowest-strokes leaderboard or a professional qualifying event. The detailed terms are due to be published on November 8 and should govern eligibility.

Why this agreement matters

TMRW Sports gains a route to people who may recognise major golfers but do not follow a televised team league. Topgolf gains a new reason for visitors to return during the league seasons. The mechanism is tangible: experience the type of hole shown on screen, then potentially follow the match in which professionals tackle the same design.

The contract also covers watch parties, special events and marketing through Topgolf's media network. Topgolf says that network includes more than 28,000 digital screens across its US venues. Toptracer technology already supports ball tracking in TGL and WTGL broadcasts. The announcement does not introduce a newly released consumer launch monitor or other piece of golf equipment; its significance is distribution of an interactive sporting format.

Rollout and evidence remain open questions

Neither company has supplied an exhaustive venue-by-venue availability list, a full catalogue of playable holes or uniform access terms across countries. It would therefore be misleading to promise that every Topgolf or Toptracer location will offer the feature on opening day. There is also no independent evidence yet that the experience converts casual visitors into regular golf participants or league viewers. The practical measure of success will be verified participation and sustained interest after WTGL launches, rather than the size of the initial marketing campaign.
