An amateur season finale in Almaty

The final event of Kazakhstan's 2026 Race to Almaty golf series has produced a Gross winner. Billed by the organisers as Kazakhstan Open (Race to Almaty Final), the tournament was scheduled for 17–18 October at Nurtau in Almaty. Its published final score sheet places Akhmed Usmanov first at −3 relative to par.

Askar Abishev finished second on +5 and Duman Koibagarov third on +7. Adilet Kozhabergen (+8), Erbol Galin (+12) and Bauyrzhan Sarkytbayev (+17) followed. These figures come from the official Gross classification for this event; they are not the standings for the entire season.

Why the result matters locally

Launched in 2026, Race to Almaty is an amateur series comprising ten stages at the Burabay, Astana, Zhailjau and Nurtau courses. Under the organisers' published format, a player's six best results from ten events count towards the season, with separate Gross and Stableford Net points awarded.

The Nurtau finale was designated one of the series' four major events, carrying 750 Race to Almaty ranking points on its calendar. That gives Usmanov's win local sporting significance. It does not, by itself, establish him as overall series champion: that would require a separately confirmed final season ranking.

Reading the scores correctly

The organisers' Gross table records scores without handicap adjustments. A negative number indicates a total below par, whereas +5 is five shots above par. The source does not supply hole-by-hole or individual-round breakdowns, so claims about decisive birdies or the final hole would be unwarranted.

The competition's full title includes Kazakhstan Open, but this report concerns the 2026 Race to Almaty amateur-series finale. It should not be confused with historical professional Kazakhstan Open events or described, without separate evidence, as the country's official national championship.
