Cyprus resort Minthis unveils a €6 million upgrade programme

On 29 October 2026, Minthis, the golf resort in the hills near Paphos, Cyprus, announced a €6 million investment programme covering course irrigation, bunker renovation and improvements to its clubhouse. This is an announcement of planned and ongoing work, not a claim that every component is already finished.

Irrigation: greater control, with savings still to be measured

The new irrigation design is by Irritech, with installation assigned to Pro Golf Group. The resort says the system will improve coverage and let its agronomy team control where and when water reaches different playing areas. The specification includes Toro Infinity sprinklers and Grundfos equipment for regulating the pH of irrigation water.

Minthis expects a shorter watering window, which could also reduce interference with rounds. But the operator has not published independently measured water savings, a percentage reduction in consumption or a detailed breakdown of the €6 million budget. These projected operational benefits should not be reported as results already achieved.

What is changing in the bunkers?

Bunker works are another major element. The resort says it is adopting a capillary concrete liner beneath the sand to support drainage, stability and more consistent playing conditions. Improved drainage could help bunkers return to playable condition after rainfall, but the club has not disclosed how many bunkers or which holes will be affected.

That distinction matters to golfers: a drainage method is a design choice; its performance on this course can only be assessed once the work has been carried out and tested.

Clubhouse work scheduled for January–June 2027

The main clubhouse phase is scheduled to run from January through June 2027. Plans include a new sports bar, an updated clubhouse restaurant, a larger pro shop and a dedicated Caddy Master area for operational services.

These facilities are planned, not confirmed as already open. The dates come from the resort's proposed construction programme, rather than an independent completion report.

A wider programme, not a new golf course

Minthis had already introduced a TrackMan Range earlier in 2026. The newly announced investment extends its focus from practice technology to course care and clubhouse operations. Managing director Demetris Ashiotis describes the expenditure as a long-term investment in infrastructure and guest experience.

The important follow-up questions are straightforward: whether work finishes on schedule, whether bunker condition improves in use and what irrigation performance data the resort eventually releases. As of the announcement, €6 million is the stated investment figure, not a verified total spent on completed construction.
