A junior development stop in Pereira

30 October 2026 marks the scheduled opening of the 4th Torneo Infantil y Prejuvenil de Golf – Tour de Desarrollo 2026 at Club Campestre de Pereira, in Pereira, Risaralda, Colombia. The event is organised by the club and the junior division of the Colombian Golf Federation (Federación Colombiana de Golf). It is a distinct grassroots competition, not another round of the recently completed Colombian Open in Barranquilla.

The official event notice emphasises competition as part of young players' education. The event is designed to give children from different parts of Colombia experience of tournament golf, including the habits that go with scoring, etiquette, pace of play and decisions under pressure. An emerging golfer's progress is more than a single position on a leaderboard.

Separate boys' and girls' age categories

The federation's Plus+Golf scoring portal lists boys' and girls' categories for age 9, ages 10–11 and ages 12–13. Each age-and-gender division has both gross and net result pages. Gross means the actual strokes taken. Net takes the applicable handicap adjustment into account. These are different classifications and should not be blended into one set of results.

The official schedule marks the competition as medal/stroke play and displays a 54-hole scoring set. This is the description attached to the published event set; it does not establish that every age group will necessarily play 54 holes. The specific requirements for each division are governed by the event rules.

The official platform provides sections for the field, tee times, scores and tournament regulations. At the time of writing, final scores and winners have not been verified. This report covers the event's opening, not a completed result.

The local setting matters

The host club is in Colombia's Eje Cafetero, the Coffee Region. The club describes its main course as 18 holes, par 71, and lists practice and coaching facilities, including a putting green and a teaching programme for children, juniors and adults. It says six of its instructors hold certification from the Colombian Golf Federation. Those facilities give aspiring players a route from lessons and practice to organised events.

The Tour de Desarrollo should not be confused with a professional tour. Its significance lies in a structured competitive setting for children and younger teenagers, with age-appropriate divisions and the chance to build tournament experience. Any claims about champions or final scores must await the official results.
