Four season-long champions

Golf Australia announced its 2026 National Order of Merit winners on 2 November. Tasmanian Jonty Lunson won the men's ranking and Victorian Jazy Roberts topped the women's division. In the junior classifications, Nate Johnson won the boys' title and Katie Seol the girls' title.

The counting period ended on 31 October 2026. Unlike the results of a single championship, these standings recognise performances across designated events throughout a season. Reporting on the governing body's announcement puts participation at more than 3,500 golfers across the categories. The adult winners receive the Ross Herbert Trophies.

Lunson's rise from Tasmania

Representing Devonport Country Club, Lunson won July's Singapore Open Amateur and August's Queensland Amateur Championship. The Queensland final was a match-play contest against Harrison Gomez. Lunson recovered from four holes down and eventually won in extra holes. He also shared fourth at February's Australian Amateur Championship.

Those finishes illustrate what a season-long merit list rewards: consistency across different events. Golf Australia's amateur National Order of Merit must not be confused with the professional PGA Tour of Australasia ranking, which uses a different eligibility and points structure.

Roberts collects seven titles

Jazy Roberts, of Yarra Yarra Golf Club, won seven tournaments during the year. Her headline result came at the Australian Amateur Championship in February: she finished 27 under par, shot a final-round 10-under 63 and won by six strokes.

She also won the English Women's Stroke Play Championship and Western Australia's Bowra & O'Dea Women's Classic. Those victories, on different courses and in different conditions, help explain why the final national ranking is a broader measure of form than one standout week.

The junior winners

Nate Johnson finished runner-up at April's Australian Boys' Amateur. Katie Seol won the Victorian Junior Open in September. Both also secured category titles at the Drummond Golf 54-Hole Junior Classic in Western Australia in October.

Junior and open-age lists are separate. Winning a junior category is not the same as topping a hypothetical all-age leaderboard.

Why the Order of Merit matters

Rather than measuring one 54-hole or 72-hole tournament, the National Order of Merit rewards sustained performances across approved competitions. The 2026 outcomes reflect the breadth of Australia's amateur system, from Tasmania and Victoria to Western Australia, and the potential pathway from junior competition to the national open-age game.
