Yuri Yoshida erases four-shot gap to take provisional BMW Ladies Championship lead
Yoshida went five under through her first nine holes Sunday to reach −18, one ahead of Ryu. Provisional LPGA leaderboard at 12:13 p.m. KST, Oct. 25.

Japan's Yuri Yoshida transformed the final-round leaderboard at the BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea. According to the official LPGA scoring update at 03:13 UTC on October 25, 2026 (12:13 p.m. Korea time), the 26-year-old played her opening nine holes of Sunday at five under par, moving from 13 under overnight to 18 under overall. She took a one-stroke lead over South Korea's Haeran Ryu, who remained at 17 under. Crucially, this was a live, provisional lead, not the tournament result: Yoshida had completed nine holes and Ryu eight when those scores were recorded.
A four-shot deficit erased
Ryu appeared in firm control after 54 holes. She had completed three rounds at Pine Beach Golf Links in Haenam in 199 strokes, 17 under par. Yoshida started the final day four shots behind after rounds of 66, 69 and 68 left her at 203, 13 under. Sunday changed the equation almost immediately: Yoshida's five-under opening nine put her on 18 under while Ryu remained even par for her first eight holes. What had been a four-shot Korean advantage became a one-shot Japanese lead.
The chasing group
The same official snapshot placed American Lauren Coughlin and Korean Hye-Jin Choi in a tie for third at 14 under. Coughlin stood three under for her round through 10 holes; Choi was one under through eight. Japan's Nasa Hataoka was among the group at 13 under, five under through 12 on the day. Because competitors were at different points in their rounds, their positions could still change quickly. These are not 72-hole final standings.
What is at stake
Yoshida, 26, joined the LPGA Tour in 2024 and had not secured a victory on the circuit heading into this event, according to her official player results. Her 2026 record already included a runner-up finish at the CPKC Women's Open. Holding off an elite field and home-country challengers over the back nine would represent a major step forward, but the evidence available at the cited update does not establish whether she can finish the job.
The BMW Ladies Championship is staged October 22–25, 2026, at Pine Beach Golf Links, a par-72, 6,784-yard venue, with a $2.35 million purse. The final winner and scores must await completion of Sunday's round. This report preserves the exact timestamp of the LPGA leaderboard so a developing result is not mistaken for a final verdict.
