True Spec Golf, the premium brand-agnostic club-fitting company founded in 2014, announced a partnership Tuesday with Arizona State University’s Sun Devil men’s golf team for the 2026-27 season.

Under the agreement, the team will have access to True Spec’s full range of custom club-fitting services, including ongoing loft and lie adjustments, gapping analysis and regripping. The partnership is considered the first of its kind because it also includes a substantial NIL contribution that will be used to compensate participating ASU student-athletes.

“Scottsdale is our home and we heard the call to provide support from Sun Devil Nation,” True Spec Golf president Scott Anderson said in a release. “We’re a Valley business through and through, and it gives us a tremendous amount of pride to invest our resources into the ASU golf program and in essence become an extension of their team.”

ASU’s 2026-27 roster includes nine players, five of whom are currently ranked in the top 60 of the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR). The team is ranked second in Golfweek’s NCAA men’s golf preseason ranking and fourth by Golf Channel.

“We are so grateful to True Spec Golf for stepping up like this and supporting our program, both with their world-class club fittings and with their incredibly generous NIL contribution,” ASU men’s golf head coach Matt Thurmond said in the release. “We’re an elite program with a long history, but the competition increases every year, so having a local business like True Spec make this kind of investment in our team is invaluable, both for the current crop of players and for the recruitment of future players.”

Since 2014, True Spec Golf has helped customers select equipment objectively, regardless of brand or model. During each club-fitting session, customers can compare their current clubs with the latest technology to identify the best equipment for their game. A master fitter guides each customer through the process and interprets the data to help select customized gear, whether the goal is to optimize a single club or overhaul the entire bag.
