Training the people behind Thai tournament golf
The Professional Golf Association of Thailand (Thailand PGA) announced on 29 October 2026 that association staff had delivered caddie training on 20–21 October at Royal Hills Golf Resort & Spa in Nakhon Nayok province. The association says the sessions shared professional knowledge and working practices to improve support for players and the personnel who run competitions.
This is a national golf-industry development story, not a competition result or a report of new tour-card holders.
What has—and has not—been confirmed
Thailand PGA says the programme aimed to strengthen caddies' understanding of their responsibilities and build the practical skills needed to work effectively alongside athletes and event staff. It also emphasised continuing professional development for personnel involved in the Thai tournament game.
However, the official announcement does not specify attendance, graduates, examination results, newly issued certificates or mandatory licensing requirements. It would be incorrect to infer a number of newly accredited caddies or to describe the course as a newly introduced licensing scheme.
Why the role matters under the Rules of Golf
Under The R&A's Rule 10.3, a caddie can carry and handle a player's clubs, provide advice and offer other assistance allowed during a round. The player is responsible for the caddie's actions under the Rules. Knowing the limits of permitted help and communicating clearly therefore matters to the competition itself, not only to customer service.
That is general Rules of Golf context, not a claim that every topic was included in the specific October training. Thailand PGA did not release a detailed syllabus.
Two separate pathways in Nakhon Nayok
Thailand PGA also scheduled the on-course examination for Q-School 2026 #2 on 27–30 October at Watermill Golf Club & Resort, another venue in Nakhon Nayok. Q-School concerns aspiring professional tournament players and golf instructors and is separate from the Royal Hills caddie course. The two events illustrate different areas of workforce development without implying a formal link between them.
No date for the next caddie course was announced.
