Switzerland / US college golf, 25 October 2026. Swiss golfers Rami Samawi and Max Morgenstern have contributed to two consecutive Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) team victories in NCAA Division I men's golf. The Rams won the Moraine Intercollegiate in Ohio and, the following week, the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. Swiss Golf highlighted both players in its 25 October college-golf update.

Ohio: a two-stroke team victory

At Moraine Country Club in Kettering, Ohio, on 12–13 October, VCU posted rounds of 285, 278 and 296 for a team total of 859 (+7). Minnesota finished second on 861 and Wisconsin third on 862. The team competition was decided by just two strokes.

Both Swiss players reached the individual top ten. Samawi tied for fifth, with rounds of 72, 68 and 72 for 212 (−1); Morgenstern tied for tenth, following rounds of 70, 69 and 75 for 214 (+1). These are individual finishes within a tournament won by VCU as a team; neither player was the individual medalist.

Tennessee: a record-breaking finish and decisive putt

VCU followed up at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, 19–21 October, at Blackthorn Club in Tennessee. The Rams shot 278, 272 and 272 for 822 (−42), edging Eastern Michigan (−41) by one stroke. According to the university's official account, Tanner Cadieux holed a putt from approximately ten feet on the final hole to clinch the team win. The score of 42 under par established a programme and tournament mark for a 54-hole event relative to par.

Samawi tied for 16th after rounds of 70, 69 and 70, totaling 209 (−7). Morgenstern tied for 46th with 75, 67 and 74, totaling 216 (even par). The result gave VCU three team titles in five autumn tournaments. It does not imply that either Swiss golfer won an individual title.

A Swiss connection to American college golf

For emerging Swiss players, the US college golf system offers competitive experience alongside university studies. Swiss Golf identifies Samawi and Morgenstern among the Swiss players competing in the American collegiate circuit; both represent a university team based in the state of Virginia.

Location matters: these tournaments were played in the United States, not Switzerland. The Swiss angle is the players' connection with Swiss Golf, rather than the venues. These were NCAA Division I collegiate events, not PGA Tour tournaments. The scores and results were cross-checked against VCU Athletics' official reports dated 13 and 21 October, and Swiss Golf's 25 October update.
