In northeast Nebraska, a new golf project called Old Dane is taking shape next to the sold-out Landmand course. Will Andersen, a fourth-generation member of a Danish farming family, is known in the golf world as the owner and developer of Landmand. This course, designed by Rob Collins and Tad King, gained popularity for its expansive fairways and challenging hazards. Demand for access to this course is so high that tee times were booked almost instantly. Old Dane, located just five miles from Landmand, will serve as a 'release valve' for golfers who couldn't get onto Landmand or want to play more. 'We get a lot of people who want to play 36 holes, and that's not always possible,' Andersen said. 'We're hoping Old Dane will be a great alternative for them.' The Old Dane project is being developed on a site that was previously a practice range. Architect Trevor Dormer, now part of the King-Collins team, expanded the routing to 12 holes and added about 30 feet of elevation change to the previously flat property. One of the standout features will be the 'volcano' hole number 11. Old Dane offers flexibility in play: routes can be completed in three, six, nine, or twelve holes, each returning to a soon-to-be-renovated clubhouse. Preview play is expected to begin in late 2026, with a full opening planned for 2027. Andersen doesn't expect Old Dane to gain the same national profile as Landmand but hopes it will be a great place for the local community.
