The offseason might not seem like prime time for improvement, but it is when many of the best golfers make their biggest gains. With fewer rounds on the calendar, there is finally time to focus on the areas often pushed aside during the season: speed, tempo, mobility and putting.

GOLF.com author Ryan Noll highlights five popular training aids that can be used in a garage, gym, simulator room, backyard or living room.

The Stack System

The Stack has quickly become one of golf’s most popular speed trainers. It was developed by biomechanist Dr. Sasho MacKenzie and Ping engineer Marty Jertson. U.S. Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick used the system to build the speed that helped him win at Brookline.

The training club uses five milled weights, creating 30 combinations from 0 to 300 grams. It is a progressive system designed to increase speed over time. The Stack app provides guided workouts with sets, repetitions and rest periods, tracks progress and includes access to Stack Putting. A Stack Radar can be purchased separately to monitor speed gains.

Best for: golfers who have lost distance over the years and want a structured, data-driven plan to regain it.

The Adult Stack System costs $299 at PGA TOUR Superstore. It includes five weights, a weight case that doubles as a phone stand, and a training club available in a 41.5-inch adult version or a 38.5-inch junior version. Training requires a device that can measure swing speed without ball impact; the manufacturer recommends pairing the system with Stack Radar.

Why Golf Pressure Plate

Consistent contact starts with moving to the lead side before impact. Fat and thin shots often result from failing to make that move. The Pressure Plate is a platform that tilts only when pressure actually shifts, helping golfers distinguish a correct pressure shift from swaying.

It is easy to set up in a garage or backyard and provides feedback after every repetition. Used with the Power Wedge, the incline under the trail foot helps golfers feel the correct lower-body movement: loading into the trail leg and then moving to the lead side in time. The goal is to add speed and consistency without swaying.

Best for: golfers who regularly hit fat or thin shots or hang back on the trail side through impact.

The current sale price at PGA TOUR Superstore is $79.97, reduced from $99.99.

GolfForever Training System

A better swing often starts with a body capable of making it. GolfForever is the Official Golf Fitness System of the PGA TOUR, and Scottie Scheffler has used it as part of his routine since before his first Masters win.

The system centers on a 44.5-inch training bar that connects to resistance cords, handles and a door anchor for golf-specific strength and mobility work. Adding one of the included weighted balls turns it into a warm-up club. The system also includes 30 free days of the GolfForever app, which builds a daily program around the golfer’s goals.

Best for: golfers held back by stiffness, limited rotation or a sore back.

The system costs $199.99 at PGA TOUR Superstore. It includes a 44.5-inch multi-use training bar, two soft handles, light and medium resistance cords with nylon safety sleeves, a door anchor, two interchangeable weighted balls and carabiners. One ball has a D3 swing weight and mimics the feel of a driver while weighing 2.5 times more; the other is designed for overloaded training.

Orange Whip Trainer

Orange Whip has been one of golf’s best-known tempo trainers for years. Its flexible counterweighted shaft and weighted ball provide immediate feedback when rhythm breaks down. The full-length model most closely resembles a driver, encouraging a patient transition, helping develop lag and reducing over-the-top moves.

The trainer also works well for stretching and warm-ups. For indoor use or tighter spaces, the shorter Mid-Size version is an alternative.

Best for: golfers whose transition gets too quick or who come over the top when trying to swing harder.

The Orange Whip Trainer costs $119.99 at PGA TOUR Superstore. The manufacturer recommends the full-length model for golfers taller than 5 feet 6 inches; because of its length, it is more difficult to use indoors, particularly for shorter or less experienced golfers.

PuttOut Premium Pressure Trainer

The PuttOut Pressure Trainer is a small putting target with several functions. Its curved ramp returns well-struck putts, while putts hit offline roll away. It also teaches speed: a putt started on line but hit too firmly returns the distance it would have rolled past the hole. A perfect putt stays at the top.

It can be used on carpet, a putting mat or a practice green.

Best for: golfers who leave too many putts short or hit them too far past the hole and want a simple, affordable way to improve speed control.

The price at PGA TOUR Superstore is $29.99.
