The new driving range at Raleigh Golf Association (RGA) in North Carolina is approaching completion, but no opening date has been confirmed. A report published by Triad Golf on 27 October 2026 says the final stage has been held up by an incorrect delivery of poles for the protective netting. The golf course itself continues to welcome players.
Address: 1527 Tryon Road, Raleigh, NC 27603, United States.
What has delayed the range?
RGA general manager Justin Sary told the local publication on 22 October that the netting was ready for installation, but the wrong poles had been delivered several weeks earlier. Replacement poles had been treated and were expected within the following couple of weeks, with an installation crew ready to begin once they arrived. That was an estimate for the delivery of materials, not a confirmed opening date. As of 28 October, the club had not announced an exact date when players could use the new range.
A 60-bay practice facility
RGA's official information describes plans for 60 lighted hitting bays and a new teaching centre. The work belongs to a broader $3.5 million renovation programme backed by the club's relationship with McConnell Golf. Architect Kris Spence has led improvements to the course, including redesigned playing areas, greens and irrigation. The total project budget should not be mistaken for the cost of the driving range alone.
Located a short distance from downtown Raleigh and North Carolina State University, the practice facility could provide more opportunities to train after daylight hours once its lighting and safety infrastructure are operational. Opening hours and practice prices have not yet been formally confirmed.
The course remains playable
Established in 1929, Raleigh Golf Association previously had 27 holes: an 18-hole public course plus a separate nine-hole stockholders' course. The 2026 reconstruction combined parts of the former layouts into one renovated 18-hole course open to the public, which reopened in September. The report of 27 October said the new routing had been accepting players for roughly a month. A delay at the driving range therefore does not mean the golf course is closed.
Golfers planning a visit should check the club's latest notices for the range opening and use the normal tee-time arrangements for on-course play. No fixed launch date should be inferred from the earlier October target.
