A specific date, not a finished product
Australian developer Beacon Games Pty Ltd says paid early access for Pureplay will start on November 6, 2026 at 5 p.m. U.S. Eastern time. The date appears on the official site and was covered by an industry publication on October 19. The planned full consumer release is December 18, 2026. As of October 25, Pureplay remains in closed beta. These are announced milestones, not evidence that the final build has already shipped.
Why launch-monitor owners should pay attention
Pureplay is simulator software, not a new measuring device. A launch monitor captures information about a real shot; the simulator then uses the data to calculate virtual flight, bounce and roll. The company lists nine official manufacturer integrations: Square Golf, ProTee, GolfJoy, VTrack, NVisage, Nova, Spectrum Golf Technologies, Bullseye Golf Sims and Garmin. It says these connections are based on manufacturers' software development kits rather than unofficial community bridges.
There is a crucial distinction between supporting a brand and supporting every model, firmware and measurement mode within that brand. Owners should check their exact monitor, spin and directional data, short-game and putting compatibility, and connection requirements. TrackMan, Foresight, Uneekor and Rapsodo are not included in Pureplay's currently published official list. Their compatibility with other simulator products proves nothing about this one.
What the physics engine promises
Pureplay is built using Unreal Engine. A May development update cited a switch to version 5.7. Its developer describes proprietary physics calculations for ball flight, terrain, ground conditions, weather, water, first bounce and rollout. The course-building process combines hand-crafted layouts with geographic reference data and drone-based LiDAR surveying where necessary.
The important engineering question is not whether the screen looks convincing, but whether physical measurements lead to repeatable, credible simulated outcomes. Different greens, lies and slopes make this especially hard near the hole. So far, closed-beta videos illustrate features; they are not an independent validation of ball-flight and rollout accuracy against equivalent real-world shots. Attractive 4K images must not be mistaken for proof of better practice data.
Serious Windows hardware is required
The current Pureplay FAQ specifies Windows 10 or 11, TPM 2.0, 50 GB free disk space, internet activation and a connection at least once every seven days. The listed minimum for 1080p is an RTX 3060 or RX 6750 XT with 16 GB of RAM. 4K calls for an RTX 3080 or better and 32 GB of RAM. No macOS version is officially specified. These are developer requirements, not independently measured frame-rate benchmarks.
Now the price is verifiable
On October 25, the live pricing page lists a US$249 Founders first-year rate before tax, valid for purchases made before 11:59 p.m. U.S. Pacific time on December 17, 2026. The subscription then renews automatically at US$299 per year plus tax until cancelled. A license applies to one PC; region-dependent tax is shown at checkout. That price is for software, not a complete simulator. Buyers still need a compatible launch monitor, adequate safe swing space, a net or impact screen and possibly a projector or upgraded computer.
What buyers should verify
Ask whether your specific monitor model is supported, what course and practice features ship with early access, and how the program handles missing readings or putting data. Dates, advertised integrations and the subscription structure are documented. Everyday stability, accuracy and the actual training benefit will need independent testing on a widely available build.
