A first for golf in Poland's Sports Dreams programme
On 29 October 2026, the Polish Golf Union (Polski Związek Golfa, PZG) announced that Konstanty Łuczak, an amateur representing Open Golf Club, had been selected for the third edition of Stypendium Sportowych Marzeń (Sports Dreams Scholarship), run by the Halina Konopacka LOTTO Foundation.
Łuczak is one of 30 young athletes chosen for the programme. The Polish federation describes him as the first golfer to receive this particular scholarship. His inclusion is independently confirmed by the foundation's official list of awardees. The order in that list is not a sporting ranking.
The record behind his selection
The distinction recognises a golfer with a record of success at home and abroad. According to the Polish Golf Union, Łuczak has won the Polish Match Play Championship and a national title in the 19–25 age group. He also recorded the leading result among Polish entrants at the national men's international championship and has represented Poland at the European Team Championships.
His 2026 season brought further international results. In August, PZG reported that he won the German International Youth Trophy with a three-round aggregate of 17 under par. Later that month he finished seventh at the French Men's International Championship, with a total of seven under par over three rounds. Those two events took place in Germany and France respectively; this article concerns recognition awarded through a Polish programme, not a tournament hosted in Poland.
What the scholarship provides
The foundation's published eligibility rules focus on students in their final year of secondary school who can demonstrate strong sporting results and meet academic requirements. Its stated purpose combines financial assistance with educational and personal development for promising athletes.
The scholarship amount is PLN 21,600 gross per recipient. It is funding to support development, not prize money from a golf tournament. Thirty candidates were selected across eligible individual Olympic sports, with golf expressly included in the programme criteria.
In remarks carried by the federation, Łuczak stressed that meeting ambitious athletes from other disciplines is particularly valuable to him, alongside the financial support.
Why the news matters
For Polish golf, admission to a nationwide multi-sport scholarship scheme places the achievements of a young golfer alongside those from more established sports. It offers recognition and practical support, but it should not be confused with an additional championship victory or the announcement of a professional tour card.
