A final-round surge in South Korea. Japan's Nasa Hataoka transformed her BMW Ladies Championship finish on October 25, 2026, with a six-under-par 66. Starting Sunday tied for 19th, she rose to a share of sixth at Pine Beach Golf Links in Haenam, South Korea. Her four rounds of 70, 69, 69 and 66 added up to 274 strokes, 14 under par. That represented a gain of 13 leaderboard places on the final day, turning a relatively quiet first three rounds into a top-10 result.
Seven birdies, one bogey. Hataoka's hole-by-hole record tells a precise story. She birdied the second, third, fifth, sixth, seventh, 12th and 13th, with her sole dropped shot coming on the par-four fourth. Her front nine took only 32 strokes, four under par; a 34 on the inward half provided two more strokes below par. The three-birdie run from holes five through seven was the decisive burst, while two more gains immediately after the turn's early stretch helped secure her position among the leading finishers.
An unusually accurate Sunday. The Japanese professional found 17 of 18 greens in regulation in the closing round. She hit 11 of 14 fairways and recorded 29 putts. Those are Sunday statistics, not four-day tournament averages, but they provide useful context for the 66: she repeatedly gave herself realistic scoring opportunities. She shared sixth place with Australia's Grace Kim, England's Jodi Ewart Shadoff and Spain's Carlota Ciganda.
Three shots separated her from the champion. Another Japanese player, Yuri Yoshida, won at 17 under par (271 strokes), collecting her first LPGA Tour title. South Korea's Haeran Ryu and Hye-Jin Choi finished tied second at 16 under, while Hyo Joo Kim and Minsol Kim shared fourth at 15 under. Hataoka did not seriously threaten the title by the closing holes, yet her 13-place improvement offered a distinct story within a dramatic weekend for Japanese and Korean golf. She had finished runner-up at this event in 2025; the 2026 edition brought a lower placing but an emphatic final round.
