KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA — The reconstruction of Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club's (KLGCC) East Course will provide a working case study for the region's golf industry this week. In an announcement published on 20 October 2026, the Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF) confirmed that delegates attending its Annual International Summit on 28–29 October will be invited to a 90-minute guided examination of the 18-hole renovation. Crucially, the East Course is still under renovation, with all 18 holes scheduled to open in March 2027. The upcoming visit is a technical tour, not a public course reopening.

Taking the discussion onto the course. The session, billed as the “KLGCC Reconstruction Tour,” will be led by Adam Calver, KLGCC's general manager and an AGIF vice-president, together with Sean Griffin, senior project manager at Green Dynasty. They are expected to walk delegates through the planning, collaboration and practical design and construction choices involved in delivering the upgrade. For course superintendents and club managers weighing their own renovations, the appeal is the opportunity to assess a live project rather than a finished marketing presentation. AGIF identified the two-day summit dates but did not specify the precise day of the course walk.

Sir Nick Faldo's design role. KLGCC confirmed its partnership with Sir Nick Faldo and Faldo Design on 10 March 2025, describing an ambition to build on the East Course's established landscape, including its tropical trees, water and natural contours. AGIF names Green Dynasty as the company overseeing delivery. It also lists specialist contributors CapillaryFlow, Centaur Asia Pacific, EcoBunker, Jebsen & Jessen, Profile Products, Sports Turf Solutions, Sustane, Tech International and Toro. The published list identifies project participants; it does not establish that every supplier's product has been installed throughout all 18 holes.

A functioning two-course club. KLGCC's other championship layout, the West Course, is due to stage the LPGA Tour's US$3 million Maybank Championship from 29 October to 1 November 2026. The contrast matters for golfers: a marquee professional event next door does not mean the East Course is ready for tee-time bookings. KLGCC's own East Course webpage explicitly states “Under Renovation.” Although indicative green-fee tables remain online, they are not evidence of playable availability. March 2027 is a scheduled target, not a confirmed public reopening date.

Why this project matters. KLGCC is an established metropolitan golf complex rather than a new development on untouched land. Renovating a championship layout within such an operating venue combines playing strategy, agronomy, construction logistics and club access in an unusually visible setting. The summit programme makes that process — including choices that are often invisible once a course reopens — available for discussion among Asia's course-maintenance professionals.

Location: Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club, 10 Jalan 1/70D, Off Jalan Bukit Kiara, 60000 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The AGIF summit is at the Sime Darby Convention Centre on the KLGCC grounds, 28–29 October.
