Titleist TruFeel or Tour Soft: what the premium buys and how to compare

Compare behaviour on your own shots, not the word Soft. Ball count changes the meaning of the box price. Check the claimed difference before buying a large supply.

Key points
  • On Titleist’s US website on October 24, TruFeel was $25 per dozen and Tour Soft $40.
  • Titleist describes TruFeel as softer feeling, with less short-game spin and a lower flight off the tee than Tour Soft.
  • Tour Soft changed in January 2026, not today: its core, elastomer cover and 386-dimple pattern were redesigned.
  • PGA TOUR Superstore lists Tour Soft 2026 with an AIM sleeve: 15 balls, style T40F15S-15P, rather than 12.

Soft on a box does not explain what you are paying for. On Titleist’s US website on October 24, TruFeel was $25 per dozen and Tour Soft $40. These are comparison benchmarks, not delivered prices for Russia. We have not tested either ball; this is a guide to documented differences and a practical evaluation.

Titleist describes TruFeel as softer feeling, with less short-game spin and a lower flight off the tee than Tour Soft. These are manufacturer claims, not our measurements. Softness alone does not establish better stopping behaviour around the hole.

Tour Soft changed in January 2026, not today: its core, elastomer cover and 386-dimple pattern were redesigned. Titleist claims higher iron flight and a steeper descent. That is a proposition to investigate, not a performance improvement we have verified.

Compare equal quantities. PGA TOUR Superstore lists Tour Soft 2026 with an AIM sleeve: 15 balls, style T40F15S-15P, rather than 12. Record the quantity before calculating cost per ball. The photograph shows standard packaging, not this promotional pack.

Titleist’s coaching collection recommends comparing different shots, observing stopping and taking notes. Our plan: alternate models from the same position with one club, in an authorised area without delaying others.

Record first landing and final resting positions separately: the same remaining distance to the flag can conceal different flight and roll. Titleist’s learning material explains that descent angle affects stopping and depends on launch conditions. Without measuring equipment, do not translate observed rollout into a claim about an exact spin rate.

Our suggested record has six fields: model, shot type, contact quality, first landing, final position and feel. Define an obvious contact-error criterion beforehand and mark it immediately after the strike, not from the final outcome. Then ask a concrete question: does the more expensive purchase solve a recurring problem? If there is no clear difference, postpone the bulk purchase and discuss your observations with a coach.
