After opening with 79, Saraswat shot 69 for a 148 total, four over par. PTI reported seven birdies and four bogeys on Friday, with birdies on her final three holes.
The tournament record is distinct from the tour-wide record. LET’s archive records that Ariya Jutanugarn made the cut at the 2008 Finnair Masters in Helsinki aged 12 and went on to finish tied 28th. Saraswat remains second on LET’s youngest cut-makers list.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Saraswat said she had believed she could make the cut even after the difficult opening round. Her next target is a top-ten finish, with two rounds remaining.
LET’s evening report on October 23 placed Chiara Tamburlini on six under, two ahead of Pranavi Urs and Magdalena Simmermacher. However, Alexandra Swayne still had to complete her final second-round hole on Saturday morning after darkness interrupted play.
The event is played on DLF Golf & Country Club’s par-72 Gary Player course. Elevation changes and water hazards make accuracy part of the test. This 18th Women’s Indian Open is a 72-hole competition: the age record is established, while the contest for final positions continues.
