World Wide Technology Championship organisers have announced another group of players for the event’s 20th edition. Their October 22 statement names defending champion Ben Griffin, Tony Finau, Jackson Koivun, Ryan Gerard and Luke Donald. These are commitments to compete, not a final tournament field.

Griffin returns to the scene of one of his three PGA Tour wins in 2025. He closed that event with a 63 and won by two strokes. His aggregate of 259, or 29 under par, set the tournament scoring record.

El Cardonal at Diamante was designed by Tiger Woods Design. Its published tournament scorecard lists a par of 72 and a length of 7,452 yards. Broad fairways retain the terrain’s natural contours, while slopes around the greens influence players’ routes towards the hole.

The event already has a history of striking finishes. Erik van Rooyen ended the decisive round in 2023 with an eagle on the 18th. Austin Eckroat followed as champion in 2024 after a closing 63 containing 11 birdies. Griffin’s victory continued that sequence of low-scoring conclusions.

Away from the leaderboard, the championship supports charities. Organisers report more than $4 million generated for philanthropic causes in Mexico over its 19-year history. Its areas of support include organisations in Los Cabos working on quality of life and opportunities for young people.

A separate programme offers a junior golf clinic. Children learn basic skills, practise with instructors and meet PGA Tour professionals. Participation in the clinic itself is offered free of charge.

The four competition rounds are scheduled for November 5–8. Tournament week itself begins with a pro-am on November 2, followed by the Oasis Short-Am benefiting First Tee of Diamante on November 3. The published schedule places the junior clinic on Saturday, November 7.

The field remains subject to change. The participants page lists October 30 as the commitment deadline and expressly notes that players may subsequently withdraw. The five-player announcement is therefore a step in assembling the field rather than a guaranteed starting list.
