Bavarian team golf reaches a new high

On 29 October 2026, the Bavarian Golf Association (Bayerischer Golfverband, BGV) released provisional league groups and home fixtures for the 2027 regional team season. Its headline figure is a record 830 participating teams, an increase of 25 from 2026.

The total covers several Bavarian club competitions, from junior golf to women's and men's leagues, including the 30-plus, 50-plus and 65-plus age groups (AK 30, AK 50 and AK 65). It should not be confused with the separate nationwide AXA Deutsche Golf Liga, for which the German Golf Federation has reported 460 teams. The two figures describe different competition structures.

How the 830 teams break down

The 2027 Bavarian programme contains 110 junior teams and 720 adult teams. Last year's record had stood at 805, comprising 103 junior and 702 adult teams.

Among adult entries, the association lists 187 women's teams and 533 men's teams, against 183 and 519 in 2026. Calculating directly from those reported totals gives year-on-year gains of seven junior, four women's and 14 men's teams. Together they account for the overall increase of 25. These are club-team entries, not a count of individual golfers, professionals or national league clubs.

The figures offer a useful window onto German grassroots golf: participation is expanding not only in junior pathways but also in established women's and men's competitions.

Provisional fixtures, age groups and deadlines

BGV has made its preliminary groups available for the Bayerische Jugend Liga, the women's and men's DGL Gruppenliga Bayern, and women's and men's AK 30, AK 50 and AK 65 team leagues. Clubs can use the information to plan travel, squad selection and home rounds, although some arrangements may still change.

For AK 30 and AK 50, clubs can ask to move a home match between Saturday and Sunday of its assigned weekend until 30 November 2026, notifying BGV. From 30 November 2026 through 31 March 2027, fixture exchanges within a group require the consent of all the teams concerned. Those are administrative deadlines, not newly announced playing dates.

The broader significance lies in the structure behind the headline number: junior competition, adult club teams and age-group golf all have organised routes to regular matches. The newly released groups let Bavarian clubs start preparing for 2027 well before the first tee times.
