The DP World Tour has put the spotlight on three major names for its opening event of its season-ending Play-Offs. Tommy Fleetwood, Tyrrell Hatton and Adam Scott are confirmed for the Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship at Yas Links, 5–8 November 2026. The Tour’s 27 October announcement places them in a field that also includes Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Patrick Reed, Race to Dubai leader Eugenio Chacarra and defending champion Aaron Rai.
Fleetwood has an opportunity to win Abu Dhabi for a third time. His consecutive titles in 2017 and 2018 remain a distinctive part of the event’s history. His first victory featured a chip-in eagle on the tenth hole before he finished one stroke ahead of Dustin Johnson and Pablo Larrazábal. A closing 65 delivered a second victory the following year. His attempt at a hat-trick will, however, take place on a different layout: the championship moved to coastal Yas Links in 2022, after his previous triumphs at Abu Dhabi Golf Club.
Hatton knows how to win this championship, too. He took the title in 2021, before the switch to Yas Links. The Englishman has five Rolex Series victories, including the 2025 Hero Dubai Desert Classic, according to the Tour. His appearance this year is a fresh opportunity at the newer venue, not a title defence: Aaron Rai is the 2025 Abu Dhabi champion.
Scott brings Masters pedigree; Rahm makes his Yas Links debut. Adam Scott became the first Australian to win the Masters in 2013 and has been world No. 1. He joins fellow major winners, including McIlroy, Reed and 2023 Masters champion Jon Rahm, who is set to compete at Yas Links in Abu Dhabi for the first time. The strength of this group makes the tournament more than a warm-up for the season finale.
A place in Dubai is also on the line. The Abu Dhabi event opens the two-tournament DP World Tour Play-Offs. The leading 70 available players on the Race to Dubai standings are eligible for the opening event, after which the top 50 advance to the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai on 12–15 November. Chacarra leads the season standings entering Abu Dhabi, with Reed, McIlroy, Casey Jarvis and Rai completing the leading five, according to the Tour’s official field update. Every position can matter before the final event.
Yuto Katsuragawa shows how quickly the standings can change. The Japanese player won the Genesis Championship in South Korea at 13 under par, moving from 106th to 28th in the Race to Dubai rankings and securing places in both Play-Off events. His late surge is a reminder that recent form, not just major-championship reputation, will shape the outcome.
Status as of 27 October: The official field and dates are available, but the tournament does not begin until 5 November; there are no 2026 round scores or leaderboard positions to report. Fleetwood’s historical victories and Katsuragawa’s Korean score are not results from Abu Dhabi 2026. Sources: DP World Tour’s player announcement and its official field breakdown.
