Johnson Wagner, a well-known professional golfer and analyst on Golf Channel, has become popular among viewers for his memorable performances, both good and bad. In an interview on the Subpar show, Wagner shared his recollections of the most unforgettable shots of 2025.
At last year's Players Championship, Wagner attempted to recreate a difficult chip live on air. His unfortunate shank not only became a part of his performance but also a symbol of his on-screen style, which has resonated with audiences. His reenactments of key shots from players have now become an integral part of tournament coverage on Golf Channel.
Wagner noted that one of his most unfortunate moments came during the PGA at Quail Hollow, when he attempted a chip with crossed arms, sending the ball 60 yards away from the green. "It was humiliating," recalls Wagner, mentioning how his brother, wife, and son watched this moment unfold.
However, his best shot of the year occurred at East Lake during the Tour Championship in August. Wagner described how he managed to take an impressive shot with a 4-iron, despite the ball landing in a water hazard. "I have never felt such good contact," he says.
Viewers can expect to see more of such reenactments, including famous shots from Tiger Woods, in a special series from Golf Channel. The full episode of Subpar is available for viewing below.
