As reported by GOLF.com citing BBC Sport, the DP World Tour has decided to toughen its stance on players competing in LIV Golf. CEO Guy Kinnings stated that players will no longer be allowed to hedge their bets: starting in 2027, competing in the revamped LIV Golf 2.0 will be incompatible with DP World Tour membership. 'Players need to make a choice,' Kinnings told BBC Sport. 'We have rules and regulations which are there to protect our tour and which our members must all abide by. Players who are not willing to comply with our rules and regulations should not be seeking to join our tour.' Previously, the tour had granted conditional releases to players like Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton, allowing them to remain eligible for the European Ryder Cup team. These agreements, which involved paying fines for competing in LIV, were only applicable to the 2026 season. The landscape has shifted as LIV Golf undergoes bankruptcy proceedings and seeks to restructure under the private equity firm BC Partners. Players must disclose their tour intentions by November 16. Those signing with LIV 2.0 will lose their DP World Tour membership, automatically disqualifying them from Ryder Cup selection. Amid these developments, stars including Jon Rahm, Adrian Meronk, and David Puig have confirmed they will not join LIV 2.0. Tyrrell Hatton’s intentions remain publicy unconfirmed, but the new DP World Tour stance puts his eligibility for next year's Ryder Cup in serious jeopardy.
