A title retained through depth across the club

Club de Golf Sport Francés has won the 2026 MITTA Interclubes de Chile, the Copa Julio Lavín Valdés, for a second consecutive year. The final took place on 24–25 October at Club de Polo y Equitación San Cristóbal in Vitacura, Santiago. Sport Francés topped the overall club standings with 130 points, ahead of Prince of Wales Country Club on 120 and Club de Golf Los Leones on 100. These are team championship points, not combined stroke totals.

The winner's advantage was consistency across all six cups, each covering a different division of Chilean club golf. Sport Francés won the West Coast Junior Challenge in Category A and the senior Ian Morrison cup in Category B. It also finished second in the pre-senior Alexander McDonald and women's Rafael Prieto Morel Category A competitions, and third in Tarapacá Young and senior women's Agustín Edwards.

A decisive junior contribution

In the West Coast Junior Challenge Category A, Sport Francés defeated Prince of Wales 8–4 and Lomas de La Dehesa 7–5 in small match points. The team included Matías Santolaya, León Jiménez, Pablo Said, Santiago Márquez, Jorge Ordenes and Gonzalo Mitjans. The club won five of its eight Sunday singles matches, with Mitjans taking both of his contests by 6&5 and 5&4. Those figures are match-play margins—six holes up with five to play and five up with four to play—not numbers of strokes.

The premier scratch Tarapacá Young cup produced a different winner: Las Brisas de Chicureo claimed its third straight title, beating Los Leones 9–3 and Sport Francés 8–4. In the pre-senior Alexander McDonald Category A cup, Los Leones successfully defended its title with an 8–4 win over Sport Francés and a 9–3 result against La Dehesa.

Prince of Wales leads the women's competitions

Prince of Wales retained the Rafael Prieto Morel Category A women's cup. Constanza and Montserrat Figueroa, together with Carolina and Alejandra Alcaíno, defeated host Club de Polo 9–3 and Sport Francés 7–5. Carolina Alcaíno won both singles; Alejandra added a win and a halved match. Sport Francés took second place.

The closest finish came in the Agustín Edwards senior women's cup. Prince of Wales, Los Leones and Sport Francés each ended with two major points in a circular three-team tie: Los Leones beat Prince of Wales 8–4, Prince of Wales beat Sport Francés 7–5, and Sport Francés beat Los Leones 8–4. The holes-won tiebreak gave Prince of Wales the cup. This distinction matters: the trophy was not decided by comparing stroke-play totals.

Senior golf helps decide the overall championship

In the Ian Morrison Category A senior event, La Dehesa dethroned the host Club de Polo, defeating both the hosts and Prince of Wales by 10–2 and winning seven of its eight singles matches. Sport Francés, meanwhile, won Category B of that cup—a valuable addition to its overall championship score.

Saturday featured foursomes (partners alternating strokes with one ball); Sunday brought singles match play. A club can therefore win the overall championship without sweeping every individual division. Sport Francés's 130 points reflect how well it performed across junior, adult, women's and senior teams. The full cup-by-cup results were published on 25 October by the Federación Chilena de Golf, the national governing body.
