The season leader after Korea

Eugenio Chacarra will enter the DP World Tour Play-Offs on top of the Race to Dubai. Following the Genesis Championship, completed in South Korea on October 25, 2026, the official season ranking places the Spaniard on 4,143.9 points from 29 tournaments. Patrick Reed is second with 3,474.6 from 20 starts. The gap is 669.3 points using the tour's published rounded figures. Rory McIlroy ranks third on 3,144.9, followed by Casey Jarvis (2,856.1) and Aaron Rai (2,467.0).

It is a substantial lead but not a secured title. Two events with enhanced rankings points remain, and all five contenders feature in the official field announced for Abu Dhabi.

What happened at the Genesis Championship

Yuto Katsuragawa won the final event of the regular season with a 13-under-par total, earning 835 Race to Dubai points. French players Frederic Lacroix and Martin Couvra shared second at 11 under, collecting 433.50 points each. Casey Jarvis, a contender in the season-long race, shared fourth at 10 under, picking up 160.57 points.

Chacarra himself finished tied 22nd at six under par. The official DP World Tour points breakdown awards him 51.00 points for that finish. He did not win the Genesis Championship; his result instead added a modest but useful amount to his existing season total. The figures here come from the final published allocation of points and prize money rather than live projections.

Three titles underpin the lead

Chacarra is the only three-time winner on the DP World Tour in 2026. His titles came at the KLM Open, the Italian Open and the DP World India Championship on October 18. He won in India at 21 under par and moved to the top of the season ranking. A solid week in Korea kept him ahead of the pursuing group.

Reed is closest, although this is not simply a two-man contest. McIlroy has won the Race to Dubai for each of the past four seasons and enters the playoffs third. Jarvis and Rai are also within range of substantial gains if they perform strongly when more points are offered.

Two tournaments, 21,000 points available

The playoffs start with the Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship at Yas Links, November 5–8. It offers 9,000 points in total, including 1,500 for the champion. The season-ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai runs November 12–15, offering 12,000 points overall, with 2,000 to its winner. Chacarra's cushion is therefore valuable, but far from impossible to overturn.

The top 70 available players from the final regular-season ranking qualify for Abu Dhabi; the top 50 available players after that event qualify for the Dubai finale. Chacarra, Reed, McIlroy, Jarvis and Rai are named on the official Abu Dhabi entry list. As of October 26 the event had not started, so no playing-round leaderboard for its 2026 edition exists yet.

The decisive question

A win or near-win for any pursuer at Yas Links could transform the title race. On the other hand, another consistent week from Chacarra would make him harder to catch heading into Dubai. Ultimately what will count is the ranking points actually earned across both playoff events, rather than reputation or an individual round's placing.
