The 2026 Asian Tour Order of Merit race is heading to a decisive final event after an unusual outcome at the Link Hong Kong Open on 25 October. Thailand’s Pavit Tangkamolprasert finished tied for 73rd, yet held on to first place in the season-long standings. American John Catlin won by five strokes and jumped to fourth overall. With just the Philippine Open to come, the season title is far from settled.

Pavit posted rounds of 69, 68, 71 and 73 at Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling. His four-round total was 281, one over par, and it left him sharing 73rd place. A disappointing individual week did not erase the points accumulated over a strong season. The Asian Tour confirmed that he still leads the Order of Merit, ahead of Australian Travis Smyth in second and South African Ian Snyman in third.

Catlin was the week’s big mover. He shot 65, 66, 65 and 64 for a total of 260, 20 under par. Hong Kong’s Matthew Cheung and Finland’s Kalle Samooja shared second at 265, 15 under. The winner received US$360,000 from the event’s US$2 million purse, together with 787.5 Order of Merit points. According to the Tour’s official final report, that lifted Catlin to fourth and left the 2024 Order of Merit winner with an outside chance of repeating his achievement.

Prize money and ranking points should not be confused. US$360,000 was Catlin’s tournament payout; 787.5 was the number of points awarded for this result, not his cumulative points for the whole year. After Hong Kong, the Tour confirmed the order of the four leading contenders as Pavit, Smyth, Snyman and Catlin. There is no confirmed season champion yet.

The deciding event is the Philippine Open presented by Philippine Sports Commission, scheduled for 12–15 November 2026 at the Masters Course of Manila Southwoods Golf & Country Club. Its purse is US$1 million. The Asian Tour announced that the Philippine Open had become its 2026 season finale following the postponement of the PIF Saudi International. The Manila results will therefore decide the final Order of Merit standings.

Pavit must defend the advantage built over the season, Smyth and Snyman remain immediately behind him, and Catlin has joined the chase with a late victory. Catlin also earned berths in the 2027 Masters and The Open, but his standing in the Asian Tour’s season race remains unresolved.
