Existing junior tours under one banner
On November 3, 2026, Bolt Ventures, Arnold Palmer Enterprises and the Arnold & Winnie Palmer Foundation announced the Arnold Palmer Junior Golf Tour, a year-round US competition platform for boys and girls aged 8 to 18. Nearly 400 tournaments are planned for 2027, with the first event scheduled for January 2–3 at ChampionsGate in Orlando, Florida.
This is not a circuit built entirely from scratch. The project combines the existing Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) and Texas Junior Golf Tour (TJGT), both acquired earlier in 2026 by David Blitzer’s Bolt Ventures. The new organization, headquartered in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, draws on the established tournaments, venues and families already involved in those series.
Why scale matters
Junior golf in the United States is served by several routes, including national organizations, regional PGA sections and independent competitions. A calendar of nearly 400 events could expand the opportunities for young golfers to compete closer to home, gain tournament experience and build a record that college coaches can assess.
Yet a large calendar alone is not proof of affordability. Entry fees are only one part of a family's costs; travel, accommodation, coaching and other expenses can matter just as much. Whether the new circuit meaningfully improves access will depend on how its support programs work in practice.
Access award and character development
The partners introduced the proposed Palmer Foundation Player Access Award to help families overcome financial barriers. As of November 3, the announcement did not specify award amounts, eligibility criteria or an application timetable. It would therefore be premature to describe the award as a guaranteed scholarship for entrants.
The organizers also want conduct and character development to be central rather than secondary. The Palmer Foundation has worked with Wake Forest University on an approach that connects competition with sportsmanship, respect and responsibility. This speaks to Arnold Palmer’s broader legacy, although the effectiveness of such programs will depend on their implementation at tournaments.
What families should watch
The immediate promise is a national competitive structure for players aged 8–18 and clearer pathways towards college golf. Participating does not, by itself, secure a college place, scholarship or national-team selection. Tournament standards, ranking systems, the quality of fields, transparent entry rules and the cost of a full season will be more meaningful measures.
One distinction is important: this is the 2027 consolidation and rebranding of two existing junior circuits, not a completed sporting result and not the separate collegiate Arnold Palmer Cup. The organizers have announced the opening event and a broad schedule; the next tests will be the details of financial assistance and the first competitions in January.
