The third Abierto Argentino de Golf Adaptado concluded on 25 October 2026 at La Providencia Resort & Country Club near Canning in Buenos Aires province, Argentina. Osel Herrera Gallegos of Mexico won the men's gross competition over 36 holes with 147 strokes. Yet the championship had a broader significance: Argentine player Mariano Tubio made a hole-in-one, and the Argentine Golf Association (AAG) unveiled its first national functional sport classification panel.

Herrera sets the pace in gross scoring

Herrera posted rounds of 74 and 73 for 147. Mariano Tubio was second in the published gross standings with 158 (76–82), while another Mexican player, Diego Valdez, finished third on 160 (87–73). The champion's margin was therefore 11 strokes. Gross stroke play is a count of shots played without handicap adjustment; it should not be confused with the Stableford point-based competitions also held at the event.

The net division deserves a qualification. The AAG's final report names Mariano Tubio as its winner with 150 net strokes. Its separate official results sheet, however, places Herrera first with 149 and Tubio second with 150. The available documents do not explicitly explain whether a non-cumulative prize rule affected the awards. The published numerical standings and the federation's written announcement should therefore be read as two distinct pieces of information, rather than treating the discrepancy as resolved.

Stableford honours on both sides of the border

In the men's Stableford competition, Mexico's Ricardo Silva Luna earned 77 points (41 and 36), one more than compatriot Rubén Romero Jiménez with 76 (45 and 31). José Guillermo Moctezuma was next on 72. These are Stableford points, not stroke totals.

Argentina's María Rita Fernández won the women's Stableford category with 63 points (34 and 29). The official sheet lists another entrant, Marta Dascal, without a complete two-round result. It would be misleading to treat the displayed nine points as a fully comparable two-day final total.

Tubio's genuine hole-in-one

During Saturday's opening round, Mariano Tubio holed his tee shot on the 14th hole, recording a hole-in-one. The AAG described the moment in its first-round report, and Argentina's adaptive-sports outlet Paradeportes independently reported it on 26 October. The published accounts do not establish that hole's par, so no unsupported eagle or albatross label is assigned to the shot.

Argentina takes a step on athlete classification

The AAG formally presented its first Argentine functional sport classification panel on 23 October, before the competitive rounds. Its members are Andrea Sánchez, Jackeline Fariña, and Dr Juan Marcelo Medina. The panel is intended to assess athletes' eligibility for adaptive golf and assign the relevant sporting classification. In disability golf, clearly defined eligibility and competition classes help ensure that results are evaluated within appropriate sporting categories.

The three-day programme began with classification and practice on 23 October. An inclusive team event and round one followed on 24 October, with the deciding round on 25 October. Golfers from Argentina, Mexico, Chile and Italy took part. The competition also counted as the seventh stop of the 2026 Argentine Adaptive Golf Ranking (RAGA). The next round is due at Valle Golf Club in Córdoba province, with another remaining event planned for Área 60. The event was the third Argentine Adaptive Open, not the seventh edition of that national open: the seventh designation applies to the RAGA calendar stop.
