Odyssey expands TRTL availability: four adjustable-weight mallet putters reach US retail on November 6

Odyssey confirmed a US retail launch for four TRTL putter variants on November 6. We examine their perimeter weights, head balance, Ai-Star insert and the difference between stability claims and independently verified performance.

On October 28, 2026, Odyssey announced the US rollout of its TRTL putter family, with pre-orders already open and in-store availability scheduled for November 6. This is not the model's worldwide debut: the range had previously appeared in Japan and South Korea. The new development is the broader American release of four configurations, including conventional mallet options and a larger Square 2 Square (S2S) design.

Four builds, different stroke characteristics

The family comprises TRTL DB, TRTL CH, TRTL S and TRTL MAX S2S. Each shares the recognizable mallet shape and Twin Track alignment system, but the neck and shaft configuration influence how the face tends to rotate throughout a putting stroke.

DB (double bend) favors face-balanced behavior. CH (crank hosel) provides moderate toe hang, while S (short slant) allows more toe hang, often preferred by golfers with an arcing stroke. MAX S2S follows Odyssey's zero-torque design approach, intended to reduce face rotation.

The distinctions matter in fitting. A low-torque design is not a universal guarantee of square contact: face angle at impact, the player's setup, delivery and speed control remain decisive.

Moving mass to the perimeter

TRTL uses a steel body with a black PVD finish, a lightweight ABS polymer shell and an aluminum sole. That multi-material architecture frees mass for the edges of the head, targeting a higher moment of inertia (MOI) and reduced twisting on off-center strikes. Four movable perimeter weights let fitters alter the center-of-gravity bias toward the front, back, heel or toe. Separate weight kits provide further adjustment.

Odyssey says TRTL MAX is 6% larger and delivers roughly 20% higher MOI than the regular TRTL. These are manufacturer-supplied comparisons rather than independent measurements. MOI can improve mechanical stability, but it does not by itself establish that a player will hole more putts.

Insert, sightlines and address

All four models use an Ai-Star face insert, with an aluminum backing and a firmer urethane striking layer. Odyssey claims it improves ball-speed consistency across the face. The company's Forward Roll Design grooves have a stated 19-degree slope, intended to support earlier forward roll. Independent head-to-head testing is still needed before treating these assertions as a measured advantage.

The two uninterrupted Twin Track lines are intended to make visual alignment simpler. Revised sole geometry aims to help the club settle square behind the ball at address rather than requiring repeated manual adjustment.

The bigger equipment story

The TRTL rollout brings two competing putter-design priorities into one family: forgiveness through high MOI and a choice of face-rotation profiles matched to a golfer's natural motion. The practical test is not the label on the sole; it is whether a fitting reveals better starting direction, distance control and repeatable impact.

The release details come from Odyssey's official product information and reports published on October 28 by Plugged In Golf and Golfweek. Those reports do not provide a comparable independent performance test of all four new variants, so any claimed superiority should remain provisional.
