The HotelPlanner Tour's Grand Final has not begun, but the official promotion calculations have already revealed the tension awaiting the field in Mallorca. Fifteen DP World Tour cards for 2027 will be awarded after the October 29–November 1 event at Club de Golf Alcanada. Of the 45 players who qualified, the top seven in the Road to Mallorca Rankings have already secured promotion. For everyone else, the last four rounds could determine the direction of an entire career.

A final round of calculations. The season has been decided by Road to Mallorca ranking points, not simply by prize money or the result of a single event. The finale carries a total of 4,000 ranking points. Its winner takes 640, the runner-up 440, third place 280, fourth 240 and fifth 200. Even the golfer who finishes last, 45th, receives 20.80 points. Alongside a €500,000 purse, that unusually valuable points allocation creates opportunities for dramatic changes to the promotion order.

Why nobody in the field is out of contention. Matthew Southgate currently holds 15th place, the final promotion position, with 690 points. American Alex Goff occupies the last place in the 45-player field on 447, a deficit of 243. A tournament win is worth much more than the gap, so Goff could still make the top 15. This does not mean victory or any other result automatically secures his card: the final ranking also depends on the scores of other contenders.

Some players, however, have clear routes to certainty. England's John Gough is the highest-ranked player yet to lock up promotion. According to the tour, ninth or better would guarantee his card irrespective of rivals. Denmark's Sebastian Friedrichsen needs seventh or better for the same protection. South African Louis Albertse starts in 16th place and would secure promotion with a top-three finish. He needs at least a top-25 finish merely to retain a mathematical possibility; that lower finish alone would not guarantee anything.

The season title is a separate battle. Dane Hamish Brown leads the Road to Mallorca table on 1,262 points after winning the Hangzhou Open. Sweden's Christofer Blomstrand is 85 points behind, while Dutch golfer Lars van der Vight is 116 back. If either Blomstrand or van der Vight wins at Alcanada, that player will take the overall No. 1 ranking regardless of Brown's finishing position. The tour says as many as 17 golfers can still mathematically finish top, although most need other results to go their way.

The venue adds another variable. Coastal Club de Golf Alcanada hosts the final for the sixth time. Mediterranean winds can magnify the consequences of misjudged approaches, creating a strategic contest in which the tee shot, club choice and distance control all matter as much as the mathematics. A poor opening day may reshape not only the leaderboard but also the pressure on the following three rounds.

As of the morning of October 27, 2026, there is no live leaderboard or tournament score: the Grand Final is scheduled to start on October 29 and finish on November 1. All rankings and point totals in this preview refer to the pre-event season standings. The final list of 15 promoted players will be known only after the event ends.
