Yuto Katsuragawa captures Genesis Championship: second DP World Tour win secures his future
The 28-year-old Japanese golfer prevailed in Cheonan at 13-under 271, two shots ahead of the runners-up. Entering the week 106th in the Race to Dubai, he faced uncertainty over full playing rights for 2027.

Yuto Katsuragawa won the Genesis Championship at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club in Cheonan, South Korea, on 25 October 2026. The 28-year-old Japanese professional posted a four-round total of 271, 13 under par, to earn his second DP World Tour title. The result also transformed a season in which he had been fighting to preserve his playing opportunities for the year ahead.
A disciplined last day. Katsuragawa signed for an even-par 71 in the final round. His card consisted of one birdie, at the fourth, 16 pars and a bogey on the 18th. The closing dropped shot did not threaten his victory. French players Frédéric Lacroix and Martin Couvra shared second at 11 under (273 strokes), two behind the champion. He had already built the margin needed to play a conservative Sunday.
The decisive Saturday. His third-round 63 featured eight birdies and no bogeys, matching the Woo Jeong Hills course record established by Jinam Kang in 2006. Katsuragawa began that round five strokes behind the leaders but ended it two clear. The swing in momentum illustrates why a steady 71 was enough when the trophy was on the line.
More than a trophy. Before teeing off in Cheonan, Katsuragawa was 106th on the Race to Dubai rankings. Only the top 100 were guaranteed full DP World Tour playing privileges for 2027, while his winner's exemption from the 2024 ISPS HANDA Championship was approaching expiry. Victory therefore did more than enhance his record: it provided much greater security for his next campaign.
Korean contenders. Home players Si Woo Kim and Sanghun Shin were among those tied for fourth at 10 under, three strokes behind the winner. Their performances showed the depth of the Korean contingent in a tournament linking the DP World Tour and Korean professional golf.
The event marked the end of the regular-season schedule before the circuit's concluding tournaments in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. For Katsuragawa, the second DP World Tour victory changes the way he approaches what comes next: his status is strengthened by a win rather than dependent on a narrow rankings cutoff.
